[On the Pope's address to Congress]
Just an observation: Where are the piercing screeches from the Godless left about "separation of church and state" over this decidedly religious individual addressing a state body, with religious content?

We've given up to some degree because it gets you little twits all screechy.
Besides, this Pope pisses you Fundies off by not being a tool of the corporate Right, so we'll just enjoy the meltdowns.
Well, to start with, he isn't trying to impose a fascist theocracy on the rest of us, which causes some of us to hold him in higher regard than the likes of you.
Also what Canadiest said about the corporate right.
I thought the fundies were screaming about how horrible it was that he never mentioned Jesus, therefore this Pope couldn't possibly be a Christian. Now they're saying the speech had religious content?
Seems to me the Pope showed great respect for US separation of church and state in that address.
There were tons of complaints by the left, however when it comes down to it the Pope is not just a religious leader but also the head of a country.
Also the Pope proved he was on your side during this visit.
His religious content was less than what we hear from Congressmen on a regular basis; also, we can ignore it if we're not Catholic. There are some outstanding climate change scientists who hail from India, and I wish they'd address Congress even if they slipped in a little Hinduism.
...he isn't trying to impose a fascist theocracy on the rest of us.
Father Ted: [trying to explain himself] I'm not a fascist, I'm a priest. Fascists go round dressed in black telling people what to do, whereas priests... er... More drink!

Nowhere. Because Pope Francis isn't a fundie , unlike you lot. And anyone who triggers the likes of you is okay in my book.
Just an observation.
A Baptist preacher is free to address Congress too. It's just that Congress cannot pass laws of an overtly religious nature or discriminate against those of different religion or no religion. Francis, for his part, said quite a few things that would be agreeable to non-Catholics as well.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
