Dude, it's not 1950 anymore. It's about time you realize that, in the truest meaning of the word, the United States is one of the most "communist" nations on the face of the planet. And so are our friends, the British, the Canadians, and the Germans! never actually "communist." They were (and in some cases still are) repressive totalitarian dictatorships and committee-run elitist oligarchies.
The US, with it's systems of welfare, unemployment insurance, social security, medicare/medicade, and all the rest, has gotten far closer to the Marxist ideal than any of them ever did. (And what do ya know, no "withering of the State" has occurred, much as some of us would like the current one to do some bloody withering...)
If it weren't for people being "reasonable and rational," we'd all still be sitting in caves, in the dark, hiding in fear from thunderstorms.
