During a Wednesday appearance on the conservative radio show “Faith & Liberty,” Rep. Michele Bachmann accused the “gay community” of pushing “deviancy,” “tyranny” and child rape.
The Minnesota Republican warned that the gay community will “abolish age of consent laws, which means we will do away with statutory rape laws so that adults will be able to freely prey on little children sexually. That’s the deviance that we’re seeing embraced in our culture today.”
She also predicted that gay rights advocates will legalize polygamy and enact “hate speech laws across the United States” in order to bring about “the rise of tyranny.”

There is no technical age of consent in Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
Both put the death penalty on homosexuality.
*Batscat Shelly's brain a splodes*

The old scares and myths never go away. Here's Phyllis Schlafly in 1966 warning that LBJ's Great Society will lead to... legalizing polygamy.
Of course she did. The show is a platform for morons without a brain in their heads. Besides, Ms. Bachman is already being investigated by the Justice Department for about 11 violations of campaign laws, so any whining she might care to do may soon be coming from the Old Stoney Lonesome.
If she's really lucky, her judge will be gay.
[Kurgan voice]OF COURSE THEY WILL[Kurgan voice]
Also, I have nothing againt polygamy, but it will never be implemented in any first world nation, because it`s a legislative nightmare.
Non-fundie(sighs): "Once again, Michele: homosexuals are attracted to *other adults* of the same sex, like heterosexuals are attracted to other adults of the opposite sex! They are no more likely than heterosexuals to molest children or be pro-polygamy!"
Michele Bachmann (feels head start spinning): "But..but..but...Gay sex, child molestation, polygamy...They're all examples of DEVIANCY, right? So if you do the first, what's STOPPING you from proceeding to the other two? Why would you think there's any difference??"
Non-fundie (facepalms to hide tears of frustration)
Yes, and then they will force people to wear shoes on their hands, ban the use of pants, and make dogs walk people. Because if we're going to go down a ridiculous slippery slope then why the fuck not?
Edit: Also, I never believed in reincarnation before but with Bachmann being essentially the second coming of McCarthy I may have to rethink my position.
Christian priest have, apparently, already been able to freely prey on little children sexually. If they were caught, they were just moved to a new parish, and got a fresh supply of young victims to prey on.
The Bible is perfectly fine with polygamy, and child-brides for that matter.
Hate speech laws is a weapon AGAINST tyranny, stupid!

Also, why is Batscat Shelly so terrified of polygamy? Guys in the Bible did it all the time! Polygamy is "Traditional Biblical Marriage".
More proof that these guys just want to control people for funsies. They don't really believe the theology they espouse. Why else would they knock polygamy & idolize Ayn Rand while claiming to follow a 2000 year old Jewish proto-hippie?
That some wacko gay group may advocate sex with children, does not mean the "gay community" advocates that. Plenty of heterosexuals push terrible ideas, but that doesn't mean all heterosexuals are in favor of those ideas.
P.S. Except in the case of a bishop, the Bible speaks not a word against polygamy.
Because that's been the case in Denmark for decades.
Oh, wait, that's not true at all. Bachmann is just lying, or completely delusional.
@ NonProphet
Ohhh... I choose b).
As for polygamy, if someone can tolerate having multiple mothers-in-law--hey, more power to him/her! *laughs* Unfortunately, though, as Skide mentioned, the resulting bureaucratic Gordian Knot would ensure that it'd take a long time to legalize it, even if the national consensus and/or Supreme Court rulings were in favor of such.
"Faith & Liberty"? Now that's an oxymoron, at least with the kind of "faith" these morons follow...
Thirding Skide and Da Rat Bastid, I'd have no problem with polygamy (between equal, consenting adults, of course), but I don't expect it to be officialy accepted anytime soon, simply due to all the administrative and legislative work that would result.
Bachmann going full Anita Bryant with the "Save Our Children" shtick, I see. How charming. She could definitely use a few pies to the face, herself.

Sure, acceptance and tolerance of a maligned group of people always promotes tyranny. Not sure what that has to do with polygamy-- which the bible-humping fundies shouldn't have a problem with, anyhow. Or hate speech laws, which are already in place across the entirety of the United States. Laws that combat tyranny and discrimination, btw.
She also predicted that gay rights advocates will legalize polygamy and enact “hate speech laws across the United States
You know Michele, I would support these, because polygamy would involve only consenting adults, and what you are saying could be construed as hate speech.
in order to bring about “the rise of tyranny.
No, it would be to get would be tyrants, like you, to finally shut up. If you had to face legal consequences for trying to deny people their rights, I'm guessing you probably wouldn't spew so much bullshit.

Michelle-chan's trying to pull this again ? Isn't trying to lump everything they hate together and try to connect them all a basic fundie argument forming style?
Ibuki's seen this waaaaaaaaaay too many times. If they can't make an actual argument, then they don't have one.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
