Clayton Police believe John Violette fled to Washington, D.C., after killing his daughter at their Clayton home Friday. Authorities will travel to the nation's capital Wednesday to pick him up and return him to Johnston County.
U.S. Marshals said Violette quoted the bible and screamed uncontrollably when they arrested him. The 37-year-old Clayton resident is charged with the slaying of his 4-year-old daughter, Katlin.
Violette's wife found the couple's daughter. Authorities said the child's head had been severed from her body.

Another killing for God.
The Bible says that Jesus doesn't wish any children to die, and since Jesus is good and loving, all-knowing and all-powerful, why did he allow this child to be murdered?
Fuck. I saw this on the news here and somehow I got the impression the daughter was older. Not that that would make it any better, but...wow.
I don't usually get all emotional about news stories, but...poor fucking kid. Four years old? Fuck.
Hey, Abraham was going to slit his kid's throat when he heard voices telling him to do it. Why should John Violette be any different?
It always amazes me how when something like this is in the Bible, it's taken as "God's command," but when it's on the local news, it's just plain old psychosis.
"Another example of how religion is a mental illness."
Here we go again...
Religion isn't the cause here, the guy was fucked in the head anyway. He just saw the ambiguity of the Bible as a way of justifying his actions to himself.
At any rate, if he was pathologically indoctrinated, what about "thou shalt not kill"?
@Matilde
I would like to know which part of the Bible he quote. Not even in the OT they allow to kill your offsprings.
Not so fast, girly.
Besides Abraham, who was mentioned, god orders the deaths of all children in many of Moses' battles, god says that disobediant children are to be stoned to death by the whole town, and 2 kings talks about two women discussing the cooking and eating of their children. And that's just off the top of my head.
Not that it in any way excuses this sick fuck.
Normally I'd try to make a sarcastic remark about someone this crazed, but this is just to sad. Only 4 years old, and the way she died. . .<shudder> . This kind of thing should never happen, even in the movies.
I'm wondering if Violette has a previous history of mental illness that is undisclosed. About a month ago, a man who had killed his twin daughters (around 9 or 10) was on Oprah. He had had a long history of depression, was left alone with his girls one day and finally just snapped. He said he killed them to protect them from the darkness that he saw in everything-he didn't want them to have his illness to.
Of course, even if the kill was killed for a "good" reason-to protect her from something-it doesn't make her any less dead, or her father less ill, evil or both. If he truley was that mentally ill, she should never have been left alone with him, even for a minute.
I hope that something-anything -good comes from this (tighter watching on religious fundamentalists?) so that the girl will not have died for nothing.
Yes, I know, but I just wonder what can be a justification for killing a 4 years old baby. And talking about Abraham, you should know by now that it was a remnant of the ol´good habit of the time of human sacrifices. What the core of the theological content of this part implies is that it was an exceptional case to show off their repulsion of a not very far away tradition in Canaan and the Middle East. Anyway, the verses I think he might quote are those in which God rants against those who disrespect men of good will and fair people, but I am not even sure of that.
To the person who made the Highlander joke, fuck you.
A child has been murdered. That's not something you fucking joke about.
This is just fucked
@ anevilmeme
Thanks for making my day
The Sandy Hook killer was raised in the church and he and his mother were still connected,,, He also had a long history of mental illness.
This guy is nuts, probably the worst thing he's done but not the first sign of him being unstable.
Church doesn't help and the aggressor often can find scripture to support the most vile actions, The books all kinds of fucked up shit, that's the only message I impart. I won't blame the religion or church unless there's a direct link towards violence being preached, or a manifesto linking the act to his beliefs, at the same time it doesn't help at all.
Confused?
