So, gender war is smoking single men and single redheaded women, vs. families with two kids, the oldest one a girl? In what way is this gender war?
Why does the redhead gain a lot of weight (and lose a couple of inches of hair) between the pictures? The smoker is fatter than she is in both pictures...
I think this is another example of what I call the "Madonna/Spinster Complex":. Similar to the Madonna/Whore Complex, it is a false dichotomy between "strong woman who is her own person" and "loving wife and mother", asserting that all of the former are doomed to die lonely and childless. It may be noted that Madonna/Whore and Madonna/Spinster do not exclude each other - frequently, it's combined into a life circle where "bad girls" start out as "whores", but turn into "spinsters" once they hit "The Wall".

That makes sense. That they think like that, I mean.
My mother is very loving, AND a strong woman who is her own person. She's a feminist, have been married to my father (also a feminist) for 50 years this spring, have four children and five grandchildren. Oh, and she's also a Christian, but has never pushed any kind of religiosity onto us kids.
It's also the general RW and Fundy pretense that they're healthier, good looking people and everyone they're against is ugly and slovenly.

There's a reason DEVO used clip art and costuming from the 50s and 60s in their act. Because it was the American projection, the fantasy, not the reality.
So what, I wanna dissolve my own family, something I treasure the most? Your idiotic oversimplification can only affect your intellectual kin, ie. the severely mentally handicapped.
