Well, we don't really know who wrote that passage or why.
More to the point, why should laws of ancient Judea be relevant to our modern World?
And yet homophobic countries are third world nations. Ones that have equal rights tend to be flourishing. I can see those that are "damned" to hell enjoying their time, it's a vacation and our loved ones are with us. Heaven is worse than any third world nation and followers are confused to which God replies: did you pay attention to any of my signs, or did you base it off a book I had nothing to do with?
Sorry, threats of physical violence do not work for people who know better. And yes, that's all they are.
And if, by some insane chance, there is such a God with such a horrid attitude, and I face him in the afterlife, I will spit in his eye.
Hm. Leviticus 19:17 says "Love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord." Jesus said "Judge not lest you be judged." Rabbi Bartinoro said "If you see your neighbor ensnared by some temptation, do not judge your neighbor harshly until you have faced the same temptation and mastered it." All I see is a complete lack of empathy and a willingness to judge others. If you claim to "fear the Lord," then stop treating him as your puppet.

God doesn't appear to be neutral on a wide range of subjects, and the smallest thing can trigger its rage and cast the poor soul into eternal torture. Despite this, we can't question its loving and caring nature, otherwise we may cause it to lose its fragile temper once again. I'm speaking hypothetically, of course, as I know that you are just juxtaposing your own worldview and insecurities onto the god you believe in.
The part where Jesus never mentions homosexuality, whatsoever? Where he mentions, again and again, that helping the poor and sick is the most important thing to him?
