Basically, liberals are decedents of peasants, they find comfort in being ruled by a superior entity.
They are uncomfortable with the idea of being sovereign, and find comfort in their subservient position to government.
They want someone else to take the responsibility to be the boss of them and tell them what to do.
It is something that has been bred into them over thousands of years. Even when they attempt to practice some small element of self rule, they flock to democracy or mob rule, in order to find the comfort of being just a small part of the large group.
They are threatened by individual freedom and responsibility and seek to encompass everyone under the guise of mob rule, forcing people who do not agree with their positions to conform. Anyone who practices independence and true freedom is seen as a threat, and someone to be mistrusted.
It is unfortunate that they have become the vast majority.

Who were your ancestors, the Hapsburgs?
Do tell us your alternative to democracy, Jim: it should be good for a laugh.
"Anyone who practices independence and true freedom is seen as a threat"
INDEPENDENCE
Standardspeak: Being able to manage your life on your own, such as making your own money.
Fundiespeak: To always "obey God more than man." Not feel obligated to follow secular law if that would mean "acting against God's Word!"
And "freedom" in the sense: "I'm gonna let you do anything you wanna do, as long as it isn't anything *I* object to for *religious* reasons!"
By all means, be independent, starting with not accepting any benefits that derive from our taxes.
Maybe you could go live with squatter Cliven Bundy, who should lose his social security, medicare, driver's license, etc. in lieu of his unpaid land use fees.
Um, everone is the descendants of both kings and paupers, and some families have both conservatives and liberals.
"It is unfortunate that they have become the vast majority."
Yon know there was never a time that the peasants did't outnumber the nobility a hundred to one, right? I mean it takes a lot of labor to support an aristocracy.
@ Skyknight, Jewnior Spokesman
Oh, he's definitely a Kool-Aid drinking randroid of some stripe. He's taken Cliven Bundy's side in that whole stupid range war fiasco too. When asked what he would do if Mr. Bundy was a neighbor in his libertarian utopia and kept ignoring court orders to keep his cows from destroying jimhcom's property, he was conveniently silent.
The rest of City Data is more or less sane, but the politics forum is infested with paranoid wingnuts, closet racists and people who believe everyone to the left of Atilla the Hun on the political spectrum eats baby livers for breakfast.
@ScrappyB
A lot of people, even media outlets supporting that moocher. I think it's the wealth worshipping crowd that have a soft spot for the first 1% of America: The cattle barons, who are often portrayed glowingly in movies despite the reality that they ran over homesteaders lands and controlled the towns around them.
the Bundys think it's the 1800s already again, the politics in many areas of America seem to be reflecting those days.

Can you say King George III? 'War of Independence'? I know you can.
...oh, and here in the UK, the Conservative Party are to the right, Labour Party are to the left , the Liberal Democrat Party are neither right nor left, but 'middle-of-the-road'.
I vote Labour .
The Liberal Democrats in Japan are the Conservatives.
The Liberal Democrats in Russia are the hardline nationalists .
The Liberal Democrats in Australia are that country's equivalents of the Teabaggers in the US.
Intelligence. It has been bred out of you & your ilk for thousands of years. Can you say 'Meritocracy' jimhcom? I know you can.
Our Queen Elizabeth II. Your GOP/Stars & Stripes. What's the difference?
liberals are decedents of peasants ... It is unfortunate that they have become the vast majority.
Err, the peasants were always the vast majority of any society. The further you go in history, the larger their percentage of the populace.
Why do these people always assume that even in historical times they'd belong to some sort of ruling class? Until not too long ago, 98% of the populace were groveling peasants with little or no freedom, little or no possessions, and a relatively short life span. The overwhelming chance is that these people too would belong to the serfs.
Revolutions don't happen because everybody's happy and content.
"They are uncomfortable with the idea of being sovereign, and find comfort in their subservient position to government. [...] they flock to democracy or mob rule, in order to find the comfort of being just a small part of the large group."
In a democracy, by definition, the role of the citizen is not subservient but participatory. A subservient position to democratic government means nothing more than compliance with the law - because otherwise a democracy doesn't bother you. What you are saying is that to be free, you have to be a criminal - no matter what the law is.
"liberals are decedents of peasants"
News flash, most of humanity is descended from the peasantry. Royals usually tend to stick with royals.
"They want someone else to take the responsibility to be the boss of them and tell them what to do."
Oh, like a god?
This moron better take it up with the other RW douches who whine about liberals actually being descended from the aristocracy because "they like to manage things."
Of course, the RW couldn't manage to find their ass if they used both hands, so...
They are threatened by individual freedom and responsibility and seek to encompass everyone under the guise of mob rule, forcing people who do not agree with their positions to conform. Anyone who practices independence and true freedom is seen as a threat, and someone to be mistrusted.
Christianity in a fucking nutshell... I mean, every sodding election you get twits going on about how you can't vote for anyone who isn't Christian...
It is unfortunate that they have become the vast majority.
Yep... Christianity.
"Basically, liberals are decedents of peasants, they find comfort in being ruled by a superior entity."
wow, you've managed to define liberal as the opposite of what it means. and really, what does it matter who they're descended from? are you saying that political ideology is determined by lineage? do you really want to go down that road, or are you just saying shit?
@wintermute
Um, everone is the descendants of both kings and paupers
*Ahem* It's been noted by only a few here, but he said decede nts . I'm pretty sure it's different from des cendents.
Doesn't it mean the libs are all dead? And from the peasants ... the peasants killed them off?
Basically, liberals are decedents of peasants
Pretty much everyone is descended from peasants, though looking at your spelling, some have done less descending than others.
It is unfortunate that they have become the vast majority.
Peasant societies usually have a vast majority of... peasants. Haven't you got round to agriculture yet?
I, wait... Liberals were killed off by peasants or we all came from peasants? I get the idea that he's saying we're plebs, but what?
So liberals have never been about power to the people, huh? Someone does not know history. And peasants never revolt or anything, either, right? Also democracy is not mob rule, liberals do not support the latter as they do not favor the tyranny of the majority. Learn your government.
Liberals are the descendants of peasant sympathisers; they find discomfort in seeing others tortured by powerful political entities.
They are comfortable with the idea of being equal, and find no comfort in subservience to oppressive fascists.
They want to take the responsibility to protect the rights of the disenfranchised so they can have a voice in society.
It is something that has grown in them over hundreds of years. Even when they practise some semblance of statism, they make sure to restrain the power of the state.
They are threatened by pressure from vociferous conservatives and seek to encompass everyone under the banner of freedom even if the conservative establishment tries to attack them. Anyone who tries to restrict the rights of the people for the sake of a few gun nuts, anti-choicers, and religious fundamentalists is mistrusted.
It is unfortunate that they have become a silent majority.
Anyone who practices independence and true freedom is seen as a threat, and someone to be mistrusted.
You mean like a sociopath?
Peasants, who did not find comfort in being ruled by a superior entity, were the forerunners of the Labor unions and the liberation of workers.
Peasants who were comforted by being ruled by a superior entity didn't do anything and are now voting conservative even though the conservatives only support the already rich.
Democracy is not "someone else taking the responsibility", stupid. It's ”We the People” taking charge.
So, they want someone else to be the boss, but they force those who do not agree to conform? How did you connect those two stand-points?
Hmm ... sounds vaguely familiar
Loki: [to crowd] Kneel before me. I said
KNEEL! Is not this simpler? Is this not your natural state? It’s the unspoken truth of humanity that you crave subjugation. The bright lure of freedom diminishes your life’s joy in a mad scramble for power. For identity. You were made to be ruled. In the end, you will always kneel.
German Old Man: [Stands] Not to men like you.
Loki: There are no men like me.
German Old Man: There are always men like you.
Oh yes ... that's it.
Descendant of peasants here, and bloody proud of it! What makes you think we fear freedom? We fought and died for it... and we're ready to do it again if that's what it takes. Does the phrase "Give me liberty or give me death" mean anything to you? Of course it doesn't; you're a squawking fool with a massive sense of entitlement, accompanied by a permanent case of butthurt because we refuse to bow to you. Too bad.
DENNIS: What I object to is you automatically treat me like an inferior!
ARTHUR: Well, I AM king...
DENNIS: Oh king, eh, very nice. An' how'd you get that, eh? By
exploitin' the workers -- by 'angin' on to outdated imperialist dogma
which perpetuates the economic an' social differences in our society!
If there's ever going to be any progress--
WOMAN: Dennis, there's some lovely filth down here. Oh -- how d'you do?
ARTHUR: How do you do, good lady. I am Arthur, King of the Britons.
Who's castle is that?
WOMAN: King of the who?
ARTHUR: The Britons.
WOMAN: Who are the Britons?
ARTHUR: Well, we all are. we're all Britons and I am your king.
WOMAN: I didn't know we had a king. I thought we were an autonomous
collective.
DENNIS: You're fooling yourself. We're living in a dictatorship.
A self-perpetuating autocracy in which the working classes--
WOMAN: Oh there you go, bringing class into it again.

Monty Python and The Holy Grail
This is the usual conservative attempt to make it appear their locked down, stay the course, obey the rich ruling class and royalty methods are what led to the progression of freedoms for the masses.
It's total misinformation, pretending (because there are some rare examples) that our free world was directly the result of benevolant wealth. Liberals were straight out the ones fighting the power and enslavement, after all a conservative refuses change because everythings was great in the 1950s, 1850s, 1776s and so on.
Conservatives were, and still are the enablers of absolute rule from above, like it used to be. It's in your own name, keeping the old ways, shunning the new.
This city data site and other right-wing outlets have spent years portraying the French Revolution, which freed the French of Royalty and Church rule to create freeman laws and society, AS A BAD THING.
Their obviously trying to con a segment of society (Southerners locked into church and Republican policies) that the wealthy are the obvious leaders and should rule all. It's fuckin' working to a degree it shouldn't too. Trump for President campaigns should never occur in a society that's got their act together.
Confused?
