1) She isn't allowed to lock the bathroom door. She can close it, and we knock before coming in, but it isn't safe to lock doors.
Okay...so, I take it you think she's a six-year-old who's going to get into Mommy and Daddy's Aspirin and OD?
2) She isn't allowed to go over to her friends' houses. I am just not comfortable letting her go. Who knows who we live around? However, her friends are allowed coming over, and she can have one stay the night.
Okay; I can kind of understand the paranoia seeing as there are at least three registered sex offenders in my neighborhood, one of whom lived like two doors down from me, but honestly, if you're that worried, drop her off for Christ's sake
3) No boys are allowed. She is allowed to have male friends, but they aren't to be at the house, even when my husband and I are home. I know how teenage boys are.
Look, not all teenage boys are potential rapists; I'm 20 and I didn't try to fuck everything that moved, and even if I did, I'd respect the person's choice not to
4) She doesn't know her own password to her internet account. She's only to be online when my husband and I are at home, so we can keep watch over what she's doing.
Dude...that's just wrong what if you and your husband are out for dinner and she needs the internet for a school project? In high I had numerous assignments that were due the next day because a few asshole pissed of the substitute teacher and the normal teacher dropped such an assignment on us
5) She isn't allowed to watch/listen to movies or music unless we check it out beforehand. Even anything rated G. I no longer trust the MPAA.
Fuck Cen***ship; let her develop her own tastes, if she likes what you like, that's all well and good, hell, I grew up listening to Zeppelin, Queen, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd and the like and I enjoy it, maybe your tastes will rub off on her, maybe not. And in regards to the movies, the MPAA is cracking down, it's gotten to the point where is some one says "crap" or farts, they'll rate the movie "R", but hey, you can live in your crazy little dream world where Buzz Lightyear says "fuck, fuck, shit fuck" in
6) We drive her to school, and we pick her up. She wishes to drive.
Why not let her drive? Are you afraid of her being kidnapped or something, because really, most cars these days have self-locking doors(meaning they lock as soon as the car is put into Drive)
7) There is no door to her bedroom. She has a walk in closet, so she dresses in there.
Look, unless you suspect her of sneaking boys in, hot-boxing or shooting up drugs, let her have a door, just tell her to keep it open for the most part, even a little bit, it's called "meeting her halfway". I admit though, my bedroom doesn't have a lock
8) No piercings, jewelry, or tattoos, of course! Also, no painted nails.
Tattoos? This I can understand, given that most people want their tattoos visible, it will seriously hurt her in the job market(or are you blocking her from getting a job to? I mean she could get kidnapped jockeying the register at MickeyD's)
Piercings? Okay...that's a little hazy, I mean yeah, there should be limits as to what she gets pierced, but for God's sake, let her get her ears piereced, if she's old enough to drive, she can pierce her ears okay?
Jewlery and Painted Nails? Once again, she's old enough to drive, she should be able to paint her nails and wear a necklace or rings or whatever. Based on the fact you're posting on a Catholic site, you could at least let her wear a crucifix
And before I forget, to all other users, not all Catholics are this bad(I'm non-practicing, but the rules in my household were pretty basic, stuff like: no food in bedroom, no drugs, no booze/cigarettes till I hit legal age, etc..)
