"It is not possible for a devout Muslim to live in accordance with the principles of the Constitution and it violates our own 1stA to require them to do so."
Several years ago, in a documentary on the Nimitz-class USS Abraham Lincoln during the invasion of Iraq, one of the people featured was the main weapons officer, who supervised the loading of missiles, bombs, ammo belts etc on the planes & helicopters, prior to such going on missions. Then when said aircraft returned, checking the unloading of any munitions that were unused, ensuring such were returned to the stores, with full documentation (military efficiency, natch).
It also showed the same person - either in a quiet corner of the hangar (with others passing by; they were busy with their own duties) or in his quarters first checking with a compass (as the ship changed course) prior to his praying to Mecca five times daily. Yes, that's right Tommy-boy: he's a Muslim.
He said he was proud to serve his country, to uphold the US Constitution as per his oath when he joined the US Navy, and to obey the orders of his president & his superior officers. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if, since that documentary was made, he's been promoted.
'For happily the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance, requires only that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens, in giving it on all occasions their effectual support.'
-George Washington
Treaty of Tripoli, bitch.
