[After a long and nuanced cosmological debate on the nature of star formation]
You also have to remember that Noah lived over 900 years. Imagine the amount of children you could have in such a lifetime.

Wait, was there any reason for this guy to bring up the Noah thing? Or were they discussing star formation, and this dude suddenly comes out of no where, babbling about Noah's children? I can't be bothered to read all 1300 posts in that thread.
OK! As far as I know, there is no scientific evidence that early humans had extra long lives. On the contrary, it seems that the further back in time we look, the shorter the human lifespan was.
The only evidence you have, is a 3000 year old, badly written, and badly translated book. Just because an ancient scribe wrote it does not make it true.
Noah's first kid was born when he was 500 (or maybe 502 - the Bible says he was 500, then later it says the Flood happened when he was 600, and his son turned 100 two years after the Flood - but hey, the Bible has no inconsistencies that a fundie can't invent some hairball explanation for). Anyway, he doesn't seem to have used those first 500 years to any procreational purpose - his wife must have had one hell of a vibrator.
Doesn't the Bible claim Noah was 600+ at the time of the Flood? By that time the Bible implies Noah only had 3 sons. The Bible also implies Noah had but 1 wife. Three sons in 600 years. Nosh dies at about 900, so, did he and his wife, who would have been hundreds of years old too, pick up their rate of procreation after the Flood or did they plug along at the same rate and turn out only 1 or 2 more kiddies.
Or, did they have lots of kids before the Flood and then let God drown them without so much as a quiet "Hey, wait minute?"
If one extrapolates the mistranslation of "years" into "lunar cycles", Noah would have been close to 70 when he died, much like Methusaleh's 969 years, which would be a bit more than 74 years old. This would make him ancient in an age when the average lifespan was 40 odd years, if such a person ever existed at all.
@cool cats
Liv Tyler was hotter.
"You also have to remember that Noah lived over 900 years."
Prove it.
"Imagine the amount of children you could have in such a lifetime."
According to the book you believe is infallible, we know the exact number of children born to Noah. Why should anyone have to "imagine" or speculate about such things, when your god's writers have already "told" you? (sarcasm)
But he was 600 when he built the ark, and only had three son's at that time
So one kid every 200 years.... He would of had 1 1/2 more?
@Poisoned Rationality: reread Eden's post, 75 is the number of years Noah would have lived if we assume that 900 years is a mistranslation of 900 lunar months, not the number of spawns his unfortunate wife would have had to bear ^^"
Anyway, Glenn here forgets that great longevity usually goes hand in hand with low fertility; just ask any elf or elephant. And the Babble itself seems to confirm that this was the case for Noah, as several people already mentioned.
Confused?
