There was a global flood 12,000 years ago. Actually, with global warming the ice is still melting and the ocean level is still rising. That is one of the reasons that New Orleans went underwater.

<<< Some have theorized that global warming has a hand in it. It was the worst hurricane season to ever hit the USA. >>>
Difficult to say. There is a pattern in the Atlantic basin of cycles of high activity and low activity spanning about a decade each. I think they said part of the cause was movement in a certain current that created a loop of extremely warm water in the Eastern Gulf. How much of this is due to climate change is unclear, but it appears to have happened regularly in the past as well.
The hurricane was caused by melting ice caps, even an idiot can see that. *rolls eyes*
Oh, and sorry, not enough water on the planet for a global flood to occur.
nothing new to add except to laugh. Whitewater55, you made my day. Dikes, as in the ones that broke in NO, are spelled with an "i", not a "y". I'm imagining a whole bunch of NO lesbians holding back the floodwaters!
12 000 years is still a long way short of the mark, but it's an improvement on 6000.
That said, there was never a global flood and melting ice is not what caused New Orleans to go underwater. Well, not directly. It is possible that global warming has led to increased hurricane activity - but that isn't what you meant, is it?
There is no evidence of a global flood, at least not in the last billion years or so.
It's global climate change, silly. The average temperature is rising alarmingly, but in places it gets wetter, or more windy or more snowy.
The Biblical flood story speaks of tens of feet of water above all land, doesn't it? If all ice caps and ice-bergs were to melt, it would still not cover all land.
Is it 6,000 or 12,000? And are you sure it wasnt 6,001, or maybe 6,050 and three months and fifteen and a half days? Or maybe 12,747 and six months and twenty seven and three quarter days.
You creatards should get together and come up with a consistent story and then stick to it.
Confused?
