Yawn! Blah, blah, blah, Nat'l Socialist, blah, blah, blah. Pardon my not giving a shit but so what? Millions killed horribly and all you can focus on is was he right wing or left wing? WTF?
I can't cover all the stupid here, but let's clear this one up: Hitler was not a vegetarian. His doctors had advised a vegetarian diet to treat his problematic flatulence, and while he sometimes tried to stick to it, records from his chef show that his favorite foods included capon and sausages.
However in a time when the country was being asked to make real sacrifices for the war effort, playing up Hitler's image as something of an ascetic was politically expedient. And of course, describing him as an animal lover of great renown was much better propaganda than saying that he had sought medical advice for horrific gas.
Hitler called his party "National Socialist" but their policies were NOT socialist and everyone who has any real idea of history knows Hitler locked up many people who did actually follow leftist ideas, due to their policial beliefs.
But who cares about historical fact when you can bash other people?
I googled "Hitler was a Leftist", and the second hit was "Myth: Hitler was a Leftist. An essay rebutting the myth."
So, no, you fail history and your own instructions.
You got the non-drinking and non-smoking part right. The rest is an incredible compendium of bullshit. Hitler made preforming an abortion a death by hanging crime and getting one 7 years hard labor(he was one of you). And you are an idiot when it comes to political philosophy(or a Rush Limbaugh listener, same difference). It is a circle not a straight line dumbass. A moderate Republican and a moderate Democrat are closer together than a moderate Republican is to a ultra-conservative Republican and a moderate Democrat is to an ultra-liberal Democrat. The circle literally meets at Soviet Communists (actually state socialists) on the left and Nazis (National Socialists) on the right. Both have secret police, book burning, death camps, purges, tyrants, hyper-patriotism, and imperialism. You might actually want to read a few books on politics and history instead of watching stupid video blogs by people with agendas so you don't come across as a total idiot embarassing yourself.
Does it matter what side of the policitcal spectrum his on? Dudes dead and you're not fooling anyone if you try to make all liberals/conservatives evil just because Hitler was one. Hitler was a German, does that mean all Germans are violent, insane, mass murdering freaks? If you said yes you need to seriously reevaluate your life.
One of the first people persecuted by Hitler's minions, before he was even elected, was Socialists and Communists. "Socialist" was part of the partys name because the idea of Socialism was very popular in '30's Germany and they wanted to win people over. A bit like Conservatives trying to staple the word "compassionate" in front of their name in the public mind today. Oh, and there's the small matter of Socialists and Communists being sent to the concentration camps alongside the Jews, gays, disabled, mentally retarded, Russians and Gypsies.
But the fact that he was anti-communist, that he signed a concordat with the Holy See and accused the Jewish of time of killing Jesus mean anything to you?. Following your logic, St Francis of Asis was not a right-winger.
Totally, totally wrong - as so ably demonstrated by many of the above comments. My question: What does not drinking, not smoking and supposedly eating a diet of what I can only assume are wedged-shaped vegetables have to do with one's political leanings? Evidently, Mile2020 doesn't know his left from his right.
The early-twentieth century fascists [the intellectuals, anyway] in Italy, and to a lesser extent in Germany, were ex-Socialists who became disillusioned with Socialism and Liberal Democracy. If you're interested in reading about their modern-day relatives, try "neoconservative", whose ranks are filled with ex-Communists.
Everyone tries to distance themselves from Hitler. Even people in the ultra right wing Christian Identity movement and the various sects of Aryan Nation and other neo-Nazi groups have come up with elaborate theories about how they have nothing to do with Hitler. It's not surprising that they've invented equally elaborate theories blaming Hitler on leftists, or even on Jews.
Communists were anti-environment, anti-gay, pro-traditional-family-values, pro-military, puritanical, not swayed by appeals to civil liberties, and often against a woman's right to make choices over her own body. So by your logic, they were good conservatives, huh?
I hate this argument with a vigor. Mind you, I'm hardly left wing, but the problem is:
WHO THE FUCK CARES?
No one cares what political orientation Hitler was. Those ideas need to be validated on their own merits, not thrown away because a one-testacled dictator believed them.
Uh? Hitler wasn't anti-capitalist, he was economically centrist. Maybe centrist isn't right-wing enough for you but that frankly says scarier things about you than it does about Hitler.
As for him being pro-environment, Hitler's pretty much the reason everyone has a car today. He is credited with the initial design of the first Volkswagen in 1932. Prior to that, only the very wealthy had access to cars. The Volkswagen changed all that. Yes, that might have been a socialist-leaning initiative, but the purpose behind it was Kraft durch Freude (strength through joy) - it was about raising the overall morale of the German state.
Actually, he was an authoritarian dictator using the words "National Socialist" as a cover. He was anti-abortion (can't call him pro-life, as he killed so many people). As for the others, I don't know, so I won't try.
Besides, even if he was a Leftist, that doesn't make all Leftists evil.
That's like saying:
All of Albert Einstein is dead.
and then concluding
All dead people are Albert Einstein.
Which is obviously ridiculous.
Goggle that and I'm sure you'll get Beckian load of lies about Liberals.
Hitler beleived in the pure white race ruling all. Hitler believed in church control of the masses. Not drinking or smoking can be found on both ends of the political spectrum, I for one wouldn't suggest Right-wingers have a built in love for either vice. Atheist promoter Christopher Hitchens has both vices, is he a conservative?
I'm not sure why conservatives -- and American fundies in particular -- seem so obsessed with the idea that every right-winger ever must have been righteous and benevolent and that every horrid dictator ever must have been a leftie. Yeah, we see that on the Left too -- and yeah, Stalin was a piss-poor example of leftist politics, but dude was still on the Left. The difference, as far as I can tell, is that the Left has pretty broadly renounced the kind of authoritarian bullshit represented by people like Stalin and Mao. Instead of renouncing the social-authoritarian and big-business plutocratic bullshit of past right-wingers, though, today's conservatives seem to prefer to blame us for the murderous products of their part of the political spectrum.
Maybe it's because, while the Left isn't particularly fond of authoritarian dictatorships and hyper-bureaucratic bad planning these days, the Right still gleefully promotes reactionary social authoritarianism and big-business plutocracy.
Confused?
