"One of the most impressive aspects of Darwin's original theory was that it went AGAINST all his "preconceived notions" that he learned growing up and being a seminary student."
Vacuous nonsense.
At the time of writing his Origin of the Species, he had completely rejected God's word, and pledged his hostility thereto in his oath to become a member of an elite club of wealthy and powerful men known as the "Ghostly Guild."
This was a select group started by Brook Foss Wescott, and included FJA Hort, Lord Balfour, and Bishop Benson, all of whom had joined in their hostility to God's word, and the deity of Jesus Christ.
History is so inconvenient for evolutionists.

"known as the 'Ghostly Guild.'"
Everyone knows Darwin dressed as a monster to scare everyone away, and he would've gotten away with too if it weren't for you meddling Creationists and your dog too!
Actually, history is more inconvenient for Christians. Y'know, because it goes against most of their Bible and all. It's actually pretty consistent with our views...mostly because we adjust what we think to fit the facts.
Evolution explains how life operates in the real world.
Your Bronze Age tribal mythology doesn't do that.
When your belief contradicts reality then you have a problem...
Westcott and Hort were in college in Cambridge from 1852. Darwin's voyage in the Beagle ended in 1838. His Journal was published in 1842. Since his theory conflicted so badly with his upbringing, he delayed his writing of On The Origin of Species until 1856 and it was finally published in 1859. There is no evidence that Darwin was ever a memeber of the Guild.
All of this is totally irrelevant. Science had uncovered vast amounts of evidence supporting Evolution in the last 150 years. Any information about Darwin is irrelevant to today's Theory, since Darwin's work merely started the process of discovery.
5 minutes worth of research :-
The Ghostlie (sic) Guild did exist and later became the Society for Psychical Research and was merely involved in researching stories of ghosts, poltergeists, fake mediums etc.
And as Cabraxas points out there is no connection with Darwin at all.
Ah, for a second I wondered what this guy was on about, then I saw it was editor-surveyor, no doubt transcribing the voices in his head again. Never mind.
Here is clear evidence the freeper is lying. The Ghostly Guild was established in 1882, the year of Darwin's death.
The stated objective of the Ghostly Guild was to study paranormal "incidents" in a scientific manner.

This is well documented truth. He was a Christian to the day he died. Not a young earther no, but neither were most then or now. He knew Christians wouldn't like his theory mostly because of God supposedly making us in our present form.
Everthing you said are lies
Hmmm...nice "facts". Let me help you on the way. The Guild was a subgroup of the illuminati, this links to Isaac Newton, as we know he was a templar (See the DaVinci Code), and they were (are) another subgroup of the very same Illuminati. We owe the whole age of reason to a secret society who was ultimately derived from a group of medieval alchymists and satanists. It is all a plot to open our minds for the devil. Conspiracy theory much?
Next we know, some fundie will actually cite me in public.
Ignorance is bliss, and it seems bliss is ignorance too.
History is so inconvenient for evolutionists.
In my experience, it's fundies and conservatards with the belief that the USA was founded as a Christian nation that have a problem with history.
"History is so inconvenient for evolutionists."
Not so much. Evolution exists irrespective of whatever Darwin did. He merely codified its general principles. He could have bent over and whistled hymns out his ass and evolution would have been unaffected.
Actually, history which is backed up by evidence is very helpful for people who accept evolution. Genetics, ecology, climatology, paleontology and husbandry have proven to be helpful too. What has not been helpful is the bible, which is why it not considered.
Hope that makes it clear.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
