Amen!!! I'm a KJV only man myself and i concur with this thread.
Rupert Murdoch is heavily involed in the publishing of the NIV Perversion, need I say anymore on the matter.
Oh BTW, Try to find 1 John 5:7 in the modern versions. The trinity of the God Head has been completely omitted. Hmm, wonder why they would take that most important verse out. Rolling Eyes
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. (1 John 5:7)

Do you people know what the V in KJV stands for? Say it with me slow: VER-SION. It means one interpretation. And since a lot was added to the KJV when it was written way back when, any other version is as accurate to reality that your precious bible, maybe more so to the original texts.
Silly me, I always thought that the original was in Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, and Latin!
They took those PARTICULAR verses out because, guess what? Some guy in the 5th or 6th century, just "filled in the blanks" and, ta-da, the triune god was born, obliterating at once the god of Abraham, the gnostic god, and jesus' own teachings. Amazing, isn't it? (Eyes spinning in your head yet?)
It´s the father, the son(aka Jesus Christ)and the Holy Ghost, but, well, in 15th century English sounds better, isn´t it?
Hmm, wonder why they would take that most important verse out. Rolling Eyes
Since the removal of the passage hasn't changed Christian teaching, it can't be for the ulterior religious motive DJ is trying to suggest with his hmmm-ing and rolling of eyes.
Well, technically he is right about the alteration of the verse in the NIV, the reference to the trinity was removed. It was taken out because there is considerable question as to the origin of that particular line; it is uncertain if that reference was in the original text or was added in at a later time by unknown persons. Most versions of the NIV will contain a footnote indicating this and containing the phrase in question at the bottom of the page, so it was hardly "deleted."
But his Bible observation isn't what makes this guy a fundie. What makes him a fundie is his conviction that not only is this the "most important verse" in the Bible, but that there is a vast conspiracy dedicated to eliminating it. It's not the conviction of faith that makes the fundie, it's the paranoia.
I thought my parents were quite fundamentalist, my mother was a baptist and my father was evangelical but they had numerous versions of the bible in our house when I was growing up. they didn't just stick to the Authorised version, so does that mean they are now rotting in hell for reading other versions?

Woohoo! Aren't you the wise one.
"Rupert Murdoch is heavily involed in the publishing of the NIV Perversion, need I say anymore on the matter."
I agree that the NIV is yet another politically manipulated Bible version, and I don't care much for RM, but whether or not he is "involed" in it's publishing or it's translation, seems irrelevant.

It's been removed because it is patently an interpolation. It's a forgery. A later addition. Get it?
"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. (1 John 5:7)"
Yeah, that's it. Extra points for being able to copy the proper Bible passage. It's an interpolation, dipshit.
1 John 5:7-8 (New American Standard Bible)

1 John 5:7-8 (New International Version)

Footnotes:
[a] 1 John 5:8 Late manuscripts of the Vulgate testify in heaven: the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one. 8 And there are three that testify on earth: the (not found in any Greek manuscript before the sixteenth century)
1 John 5:7-8 (New King James Version)
For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness on earth:[a] the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.
Footnotes:
[a] 1 John 5:8 NU-Text and M-Text omit the words from in heaven (verse 7) through on earth (verse 8). Only four or five very late manuscripts contain these words in Greek.
They are all being more honest than this KJV man.
Oh BTW, Try to find 1 Preface 1:1 in the modern versions. The disclaimer of the Publisher has been completely omitted. Hmm, wonder why they would take that most important verse out. Rolling Eyes
This is a work of fiction, and and any similarities to actual persons or events are unintentional and entirely coincidental. (1 Preface 1:1)
@Chamale
Yeah, I was talking with my friend yesterday concerning that. A lot of fundies are so dickdedicated to the book that they absolutely refuse to take it with a grain of salt. From what I've been told, a good lot rip out the preface, which says that it's a work of fiction.
As far as 1 John 5:7 is concerned, it's not in modern versions because it wasn't in the original Hebrew. There's a lot of shit added into the KJV that wasn't in the original Hebrew, and I'm not just talking about mistranslations.
Then again, this is ol' Davey Stewart we're talking about. His only waifu is the KJV bibble.
original message is perserved in the Ancient Hebrew, Aramaic, and Koine Greek copies NOT IN A 19TH CENTURY ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF THE BIBLE!!! Im not against the King James Version. BUT IM AGAINST KJV ONLY PEOPLE! God was just as much behind the 1984 (not the recent real perveted 2009 edition) NIV translation as he was the KJV and the Ancient Hebrew, Aramaic, and Koine Greek copies! Its the recent 2009 NIV that is perveted NOT all of the NIV (especially the 1984 NIV)! They removed 1 john 5:7 because the earliest koine greek copies did NOT have the verse, it was added later on by Erasmus to give more meaning to the trinity. removing 1 john 5:7 DOES NOT REMOVE THE IDEA OF THE TRINITY SINCE IT IS TAUGHT ELSWHERE IN THE BIBLE! DAVID J STEWART SEEMS TO FORGET THAT! Also David DOES NOT tell you that the NIV and many modern versions dont have 1 john 5:7 in their MAIN TEXT yet they have 1 john 5:7 IN THEIR FOOTNOTES!!!!! David J Stewart has no right to make the KJV A SALVATION ISSUE!
I don't get fundies' obsession with the KJV. I grew up Methodist before I became an atheist and the people at the one my family still goes to is OK with either the KJV or the NIV, sometimes using a Bible that has both translations side-by-side. I went to another church once that I'm not sure of the denomination, but it was moderate and the pastor himself used a Bible with both translations side-by-side and once commented on the language shift between the versions of English used by both, pointing out that one verse says "kid" (which of course tends to often refer to human children in modern times) in the KJV and "goat" in the NIV.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
