(Hope, trust, etc. are not faith. There's a reason these words are different.
In the case of going to a doctor, you have good reason to trust what he tells you; he's been to medical school. Faith is belief without reason.)
So what? He's suddenly reliable and trustworthy JUST because of that?

with a doctor, if you have questions about what he says, you can ask, and you can get a second opinion. Are there other gods we can ask if we don't like what yours says?
Well let's see, have you even read Gray's Anatomy ? No not the TV series. Are you aware they only accept the brightest people to become doctors and it's usually at least a six year post graduate qualification? Are you aware that it's an intensely regulated field and every death is investigated if the circumstances are even remotely suspicious?
Are you aware ANY and ALL faith based claims are utterly fraudulent? You might be a big fan of the placebo effect, but sane people prefer actual medication!
I'll be quick to agree that knowledge and skill are only starters; as far as "reliable and trustworthy" go, a doctor still has to prove those qualities for me to feel particularly comfortable with him or her.
But regarding medical issues, I would much rather start with a DOCTOR who has that skill and knowledge, or at least has a darned good education in which he/she was supposed to have picked them up, than start with someone I consider "reliable and trustworthy" but who doesn't know a darned thing about medicine.

No, of course not. Why is that reason to trust him? It isn't. Doctors are frauds. Next time you get sick and weak, don't go to them, go to me. I'm not a doctor, but I am a card-carrying LION, and I'll be happy to put a swift end to anything you may be suffering from.

Ok, would you like me, who haven't been in a medical school, to perform an operation on you?. SURE NOT.
Julian,
"are you aware they only accept the brightest people to become doctors"
I have to disagree with that. You certainly have to be persistent and dedicated to get through medical school, but I've met some pretty stupid doctors. My last one, for instance.
Confused?
