phobia is a psychological term denoting irrational fear. Which is exactly why it's being used by homosexual activists in their self-admitted propaganda campaign, as one of the two labels they use to create cognitive dissonance. The other term is "homohatred", which we also see lobbed onto cyber discussion boards and other media with reckless and gleeful abandon.
That's how propaganda works.

yes, little addict, phobia is a term for irrational fears.
And you're right: This is EXACTLY why "homophobic" is used to describe people who recoil in abject horror at the idea and want gay people killed/stoned/cast-out, all because of an unfounded fear that "they might catch 'the gay'".
Its most definitely a fear, its certainly irrational, and thus, a phobia.
what's that bit about propaganda at the end though?
#199217 -- I've got news for you. We're already in your neighborhoods. Your children see us every day. If you work in an office, you work with at least one of us.
You're right, I am afraid of people like you. You have the power to potentially harm me if you knew who and where I was. I've been harassed by your kind before, so I now keep my orientation secret from those around me.
Then again, my fear is tempered by the fact that you are too cowardly to attach your name or even a pseudonym to what you wrote. Internet Tough Guy.
It only creates cognitive dissonance because of your fucked up interpretation of a collection of books written by people who were trying to get others to live as they believed they should (in other words, a load of crap). That, and your inability to shut the fuck up and let people live how they want to live.
Fred Phelps is the poster-child for homophobia.
It's a common belief that folks like him are actually latent, that they are afraid of anything that may stimulate their own intrinsic gayness.
Couple this to Phelps' assumed delusion that he is a Moses character [the Charlton Heston movie version], and to his allegedly brutal type-A personality.
Religion is merely a vehicle for him to impose his personal dominance upon his flock.
We see a good example of Folie Imposee within his pathetic little nomad tribe. His OCD compels him to drive his 'family' to bizarre public behavior. In my opinion, it's a shame that people like him are not quarantined for the greater common good.
In my celibacy, I've had the leisure to search my own psyche for the stipulated gay synapse...I haven't found any evidence of it, but I *have* arrived at the conclusion that the souls of gay people [and I am/have been acquainted with several] are *not* flawed. The focus of their passions differs from the norm, but that in itself does not constitute a flaw.
A molester of little boys is the same type of monster as a molester of little girls; gays are no more prone than hets to be that evil. To pillory someone just because they're gay is a red herring.
So then what, pray tell, do you propose we call it? Homophobia stems from the general reaction of "Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, don't let it touch me, ew, ew, ew." that the person tends to have. Irrational fear. And homohatred, while I've never heard that, is even more apt, in my opinion. Finally, you say we propagandize, but you are the ones slandering us, telling the world we're trolling the parks, hunting your children, so STFU.
Confused?
