[Regarding an article whereby 3 insurgents were killed by SAS soldiers in Iraq]
Think of what your Greatgrandkids will be asking their grandfathers:
Grampa, what's a Moslem?

Sadly, his grandchildren will probably be too stupid and bigoted to ask, "Grandpa, were you always such an asshole?"
Jen-
Honestly, I gotta ask the question: Why -should- there be universal health care? I do agree that those who are unABLE to take care of themselves (i.e., people who are crippled in some way), then absolutely - you should be taken care of. But for other people, whose plight is simply that they've got too many kids, or that they dropped out of high school and can't get a better job ... that's their own damn fault. They're not unABLE to take care of themselves, they're unWILLING to take care of themselves. Why should I take care of them, if they don't want to do it themselves?
So, because someone isn't crippled, they don't deserve health care?
The woman who has too many children, should be denied free vacinations for them, when food costs are staggering for a large family, simply because she chose to have children.
The person who dropped out of school to support their family with the best job they could get when their father ran out on them, and has no qualifications should be in the same boat as the CEO of a multi-national company?
Jesse, Canada has such a program. And if people could admit that smoking gives them lung cancer and getting piss drunk every weekend is bad for your health, not to mention the pollution problem, they'd be spending less than a third of their federal budget on it.
As is, it'll be phased out by the politicians who decide that they can spend that money elsewhere like tax cuts for big business.
Well, yeah - dying does suck. Certainly something does need to be done to reduce the costs of health care ... but ...
I guess I phrased it badly, saying that only cripples should get free health care. If your situation isn't your fault, then, yeah - you genuinely need help.
If, however, you've got lung cancer because you smoke - then fuck you. (I say this as a 2-3 pack a day smoker. It's my fault, I'll live (or die) with the consequences.)
If you can't handle using rubbers so that you don't have fifteen kids, well, fuck you - the only free health care you should get is to get your tubes tied (or your free vasectomy), and have the kids placed in better homes, until you can afford to take care of yourself.
If something isn't your fault - then yes, you deserve help. If it's your fault, then fuck you, don't expect me to take care of you.
It's a safety net. It's a last resort - it should keep you from hitting bottom. It shouldn't be there to winch you up, so that you don't have to put in any effort.

Ah, so you shouldn't be rock bottom, just near the bottom.
Now that truly deserves a compassionate conservative award.
I loathe people who hijack a war, legitimate or otherwise, and try to turn it into a religious crusade. Sickening.
You might (wrongly) believe that your boys are on a mission from God* but they aren't, and OURS certainly are not.
Because, if a just God exists, how come there is a need to go to war in the first place?
Sick bastard.
'Grampa, what's an Irishman?'
There's a basic problem with killing, and with celebrating killing. Each leads to the other, and it takes a lot of work to break the cycle.
However, if it´s "grampa, what´s a Christian?", you go ballistic(and it´s also similar, at least YOUR version of Christianity)
Confused?
