In my experience, the common thread in anti-gun people is rage. Either anti-gun people harbor more rage than others, or they're less able to cope with it appropriately. Because they can't handle their own feelings of rage, they are forced to use defense mechanisms in an unhealthy manner. Because they wrongly perceive others as seeking to harm them, they advocate the disarmament of ordinary people who have no desire to harm anyone. So why do anti-gun people have so much rage and why are they unable to deal with it in appropriate ways? Consider for a moment that the largest and most hysterical anti-gun groups include disproportionately large numbers of women, African- Americans and Jews. And virtually all of the organizations that claim to speak for these "oppressed people" are stridently anti-gun. Not coincidentally, among Jews, Blacks and women there are many "professional victims" who have little sense of identity outside of their victimhood.

Perhaps it is because those people have been historically the targets of gun violence to a greater extent than other people?
Typical reaction of a second amendment defender:
TRY AND TAKE MY FUCKING GUN! I FUCKING SHOOT EVERY FUCKING FUCKER I FUCKING SEE UNTIL EVERY FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT THAT FUCKING LOOKS AT ME FUCKING SIDEWAYS IS FUCKING DEAD! GRAH! KILL!
Yet gun control advocates are the hair triggers. I'd ask if this is a joke but...
The reasonable ones know the difference between a ban on civilian ownership of military grade weapons and total disarmament. The people I'm nearly quoting don't.
It goes without saying that the OP, while not a frothing lunatic, wouldn't know the difference between their ass and the space between their ears.
Yeah, except MATH.
Oh, yeah btw, I'm white, middle class, male in Germany. I'm as far away from a victim as it could possibly be.
Because they wrongly perceive others as seeking to harm them
Wait, isn't this the main argument the pro-gun crowd has used forever? That they need their guns for protection from criminals or a tyrannical government?
So why do anti-gun people have so much rage
Maybe we're tired of reading news stories of mass shootings of children or of deranged armed men who hold children hostage underground bunkers. Or maybe we're just tired of reading any news story with the word "gunman" in it. And just maybe we're tired of the NRA's claim that incidents like this wouldn't happen if more people had guns.
Rage? How about the elderly guy in Texas who this week shot his neighbors for having a dog that messed up his place ? Just another previously law-abiding gun owner. Just four children who are now orphans. Nothing to worry about.
I, too, can think of a fair few "professional victims": Glenn Beck, Orly Taitz, Joseph Farah, Bryan Fischer, Bradlee Dean, Erik Rush, Pamela Geller, Wayne LaPierre...
Gun control advocate: angry because people are getting shot.
Gun nut: angry at the suggestion that they not be able to shoot people.
See the difference? And who is the pretend victim?

Jesus H. Christ! What a complete DARVO and Projection! That's almost word-for-word describes the feelings of gun nuts towards other people, particular towards anti-gun people. Just change the last sentence to:
"Because they wrongly perceive others as seeking to harm them, they advocate the complete and total disproportionate arming of criminals, psychos and abusers who have no business owning weapons to begin with - all out of fear others are are you to somehow get them."
Fixed.
The only people who have any reason to oppose gun control are criminals, domestic abusers and the mentally ill. Those are the only people who would not be able to pass gun control regulations to legally obtain a gun.
@#1502860 - Where did I even mention "assault weapons", let alone imply everyone who owns one is a "potential danger"? I think you're confusing me with a stereotypical anti-gun character you have arguments with in your mind.*
*Not implying you're mentally ill - sometimes people who are passionate about an issue may treat everyone who doesn't totally agree with them as an extension of an archetype they have of opponents and not truly listen to the individual nuances of their opinions.
Confused?
