Anybody with any common sense knows that three people will be happy if the democrats win Congress. Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Osama Bin Laden. The terrorist will be dancing in their caves and I wouldn't be surprised if Osama Bin Laden or one of his henchmen make a tape claiming some kind of victory. This is clearly a sign of retreat because the democrats basically ran on the terrorist platform, I hate Bush too and I'm against Iraq. So of course this is a sign of weakness and I think the American people want to give the terrorist a victory to appease them. I don't understand people in this country who have the mentality if we leave them alone that they will leave us alone. They attacked the WTC before Iraq twice, the U.S.S. Cole and the Embassy in Africa. The terrorist will kill your family in front of you in a heartbeat.
You know democrats say that there were no terrorist in Iraq before we got there, that tells you that the terrorist don't care about Iraq they only came there to kill Americans. So common sense tells you that if we cut and run out of Iraq that they will follow us back to America and the fight will take place on the streets of Maryland, Washington D.C. and New York. Freedom is not free and when people are going into Walmart or Tops with armed guards and sniffing dogs at the door maybe they will realize this but I think it will be too late. It's almost a certainty that the terrorist will follow us to the streets of America if we leave Iraq. If the democrats win Congress, I think the troops will be home in less than a year and the terrorist will follow them. Then this will be a different country. I'm already making plans to leave the country because the American people don't have the will to fight for freedom. We are fighting against people that fly planes into buildings and if you think that when we retreat that they will just leave us alone you must have your head in the sand. When we cut and ran out of Somolia Bin Laden called America paper tigers and said that we couldn't stand to see violence on T.V. I think this country is in BIG trouble.

There are so many mistakes in that line of "logic" that I'm not even certain I could point them all out. But here's one: you assume that no one became a terrorist because of the Iraq war, which is almost certainly false. If foreign troops arrived here to oversee rebuilding the nation after overthrowing a dictator but managed not even to get critical infrastructure working, how long do you think it would take for some subset of the American people to take matters into their own hands?

Why, exactly, would Osama be happy? The Democrats aren't doing that much to stop Bush, sure, but Bush is Osama's top recruiter, and he's a bit sad the shrub lost so much of his power.

Stupid, it was a sign of weakness to go into Iraq in the first place! Iraq never attacked us. Osama did. Osama, in fact, hated Saddam's guts because Saddam was a secular dictator and not a radical Muslim!
In fact, Iraq was quite hostile to al Qaeda and the terrorists until we made a mess out of it and turned it into a terrorist breeding ground. People who otherwise wouldn't care about us are now willing to die fighting us. Furthermore, our war against Iraq reinforced Osama's declaration that the US is in a war against Islam, not merely the specific terrorists who attacked us. This, of course, inflames Muslims everywhere; if we're just out to get Osama because his crew attacked us, that's one thing, but if we're fighting Islam itself? People who would be OK with us destroying al Qaeda might be willing to fight to the death against us since we seem to be fighting a "war on Islam." And, on top of that, we squandered away the support of the world after 9/11 and went into Iraq against their wishes and on false pretenses.
By attacking Iraq, we sent the terrorists a clear message: "If you attack us, we'll ignore you and kill your enemies for you, while creating thousands of new recruits for you and annoying people who might otherwise come to our aid if you attack us again."
It's absurd that people still think that leaving Iraq would be a sign of weakness.

Our ports are not secure, and it would be relatively easy to ship in a bomb. Or make one at home.
The terrorists are not an army and are not working specifically for a certain country. They do not wear uniforms. They are far more similar to the Mafia than the Army. They cannot be fought or defeated via traditional warfare, where you attack a specific country because they can simply move out and go to another country if they think they're at risk. If they want, they can come here. Hopefully, we'll be able to catch them if they do. However, they will not be stopped by soldiers in Iraq and suggesting otherwise is asinine.
Case in point. A group of terrorists planned to attack Fort Dix. They were already in the US. They were stopped when a store clerk and similar ordinary people tipped off the police. Unless you're going to make an absurd argument that somehow ordinary civilians in the US told the authorities about a terrorist plot being planned in the US because soldiers are dying in Iraq, I have fully demolished your point and can move on.

Osama can't establish a base in Somalia. We weren't fighting him there.
Of course, it was already well known that Americans don't like unnecessary wars. Just look at the opposition to Vietnam, which was fought during the Cold War, when we were funding al Qaeda.
