[Re. the Obama daughters]
If the things you care about are communism and anti-American Muslims, you name one daughter a typical russian name, Sasha, and you name the other after the anti-American Muslim country of Somalia, Malia.

Because giving your daughter a specific name will cause the downfall of America.
FFS, he's been in office for nearly six years. Name just one communist or anti-American Muslim thing he's ever done.

Well, he's black. And not a rabid fundamentalist.
So, there's two things.
The name Sasha, often a man's name in Russia, was given to Sasha Obama a decade after the fall of communism in Russia. And if he cared about his African origins to drop the start of a name, why didn't he name Malia - which is not pronounced like the country - Enya?
My dog's name is Sasha. I knew she had to be some sort of communist spy. There was always something suspicious going on. I mean, just look at her!

urg, why do people rag so much on Somalia? I've actually met a Somalian lady, and she is fifty times more cultured and wise than the AC asstard about. also, did you miss the memo? Communism officially fell in Russia two decades ago. I may be aging myself a bit here, but I have literally gone my entire life without a communism-controlled Russia, and I am currently in college.
Still not as strange as Sarah Palin's choice of names....

@Deist: Somalia gets dissed because it hasn't had a functioning government for more than two decades, since the fall of dictator Mengitsu Haile Mariam. Not that he was much better than chaos.
As for the fall of the Soviet Union, diehard commie-hunters are sure it was all just some trick to put us off our guard. Seriously.
If you liked communism so much, why not just name your daughter with a name actually associated with a famous female communist, like Rosa or something rather than a [non-]reference as vague as "Sasha". Same thing with "anti-American Muslim". Not to mention if Obama's actually a Kenyan, he probably wouldn't much like Somalia considering the animosity between the two countries.

Sasha's name is in full Natasha, which is a Russian diminutive of Natalia, a name referring to Christmas.
Malia could be related to Mary.

Apart from the fact that you can't be both muslim and communist, if you are secretly both, why naming your kids with names that can attract you enemies' attention? And if he's so muslim, he would have chosen a muslim name, like Aischa or Maryam, not one that vaguely resembles a muslim country descending into chaos and not particularly important. Let alone a Russian name that is actually for males. Why not
