['See for an overview http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cargo_cult . See how easy it is for people to believe something totally irrational? We have the benefit of knowledge to be able see how amusing how these Cargo Cults seem.']
"The two are totally different, people believe in Jesus because 1) He really did exist 2) His words, His teachings were/ are real - we have them in the Bible 3) He really performed many miracles 4) He really did rise again after He was executed and was seen & witnessed by 500 people after His death 5) He really was/is the Son of God.
Cargo cults are based on false premises & local magik (believing idols will conjure up more supplies washing up on shore) Christianity is based on truths, they are totally opposite, if you can't see that you are blind......
Pure Christianity (believing & following Jesus) is not a cult because there is no form of mind-control, brain-washing, control by an organization or deception involved. In fact if you really look at it - living in the secular world with the secular media people are saturated with is more closely related to being a cult!

Oh...this is so sad and so precious at the same time!
Okay sweetie, you just go and read up on the history of the bible and christianity and come back in a year. If you've stuck to it, you won't be making those cutesy wittle boo-boo's.

I wonder if he had a straight face when he wrote this?
All five of your points depend entirely on the Bible, yet the Bible is simply a misogynistic, cruel theology made up by ancient tribesmen. Many parts of the Bible are patently false. After thousands of years, proof that the Bible is the word of "God" is non-existant. Prove that the Bible is the word of "God," and we'll have something to talk about. Of course, in the process you'll have to prove that "God" exists.

The two are totally different, people believe in Jesus because 1) He really did exist
So did John Frum!
2) His words, His teachings were/ are real - we have them in the Bible
Well, that proves it!
3) He really performed many miracles
So did John Frum!
4) He really did rise again after He was executed and was seen & witnessed by 500 people after His death
According to the Christian myths.
5) He really was/is the Son of God.
And God told you that?

Why is it that they just cannot see that these things are the same!

Too many lies and misrepresentations to comment on.

NO form of mind control or brainwashing,,,,,,,OOOOOOOKKKKKKKKK.
"He really did rise again after He was executed and was seen & witnessed by 500 people after His death"
Name three that aren't featured bullshit artists in the Bible.
"I know you not... Oh wait, you're Jesus! Yeah, that's the ticket! Aren't you clever sneaking up on us like that. You've invented Halloween!"
Cargos are, in fact, a mix of Christianity and of local beliefs as old and ever older as Christianity can be. If you can call it a cult, you´re putting a finger at you.
No Eddie... many people believe in Jesus because they need a crutch in their lives, because they don't have the capacity to understand reality, or because they never learn any other way.
Not EVERY person believes for these reasons... but this fits a great many fundies.
1) Don't bet on it.
2) Don't bet on it, and so what.
3) Don't bet on it.
4) Don't bet on it, there isn't any proof he existed, let alone he was executed let alone that fucking malarkey about rising again. What 500 people? Let me guess you have 500 friends. You also know 500 physicists that wish they were as smart as Mr Dino.
5) The son of who?
This is so close to parody, I really have to wonder if this isn't an instance of Poe's Law in action.
That possibility aside, however, I've never seen a post more deserving of this award. There are truly none so blind as those who will not see.

Yeah, the Cargo cultists had seen "cargo", planes, radios, etc. They (mis)interpreted it all in terms of magic/religion because they lacked many conceptual tools, because of the technological and scientifical Grand Canyon between their society and that of the soldiers they met, but at least they based their cult on things they had seen, if not understood.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
