Considering that Jesus was the first fundamentalist, then "non-fundy" Christians aren't true Christians.

Ah, but Jesus also believed in following biblical law in its entirety *, as opposed to flagrantly cherry-picking only the parts he liked, as so many modern fundies love to do.
* If someone could help me out here with the Bible verse that has Jesus saying that adding anything to or taking anything from the word of the law is a bad thing, I'd much appreciate it.
Also, Pikachukid is spot-on; Jesus wasn't even a Christian, let alone the first fundie Christian.
Considering that the book "The Fundamentals", on which modern Xtian fundamentalism is based, was written in the 1950's, Jesus must have been kicking around for a loooooooooooong time after his little masochistic episode.
What's that now? Fundamentalist is just a euphemism for 'bat-shit Bible thumper'.
Carico, I believe you just insulted Jesus Christ Himself
Jesus was a liberal humanist ... and if you read between the lines, perhaps also a deist.
"Scholars and Pharisees" were JC's pet peeve. The scholars were those who pushed adherence to the scripture of the day. Sound familiar?
The Pharisees were the social critics and enforcers, having had a great deal of political leverage. Sound familiar?
Jesus didn't like them. I believe he wanted to break out of that. I think he told his people to keep the Sabbath, etc, simply to avoid trouble.

Mat 5:17 ¶ Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
C'mon folks it's carico. No one claims to know more and knows less about the subjects they discuss most(history, US Constitution and founding fathers, Islam, the Bible, Christianity, etc.) with the possible exceptions of Rush Dimbulb and Babble O'Rarely.
Jesus could not possibly have followed the bible as you do, since it was finished a considerably long time after he died.
ps. If you want to argue that the bible was written according to his teachings, then you might want to consider exactly how much later it was written. Since Jesus was not around to supervise the bible's construction, it does not earn the Jesus seal of approval, I'm afraid.
Carico, trust you to not realize that what most fundamentalists follow aren't the teachings of Jesus, but those of Paul.
You're not Christians, you're Paulines.
"Jesus was the first fundamentalist"
He was the first person to use feedback on recorded music too. Also, he was visitor #1,000,000 to that site and won the prize.
Fundamentalist, eh?
Read the four Gospels, underst...
Oh, right, it's carico. Never mind, then.
When did Jesus condemn abortion? When did he approve of gay-bashing? When did Jesus use politics to enforce his will? Considering what Jesus did to the moneylenders, how do you think he would react to the opulent mega-churches?
Either you do not know what fundamentalism stands for, or you do not know Jesus!
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
