And when the tyrant tells you to cover your eyes and listen to him for your one and only source of truth, you listen. Well, you do. Most of us aren't going to accept answers without explanations, especially from a man that doesn't exactly have a good record in the way of humane acts.
This reminds me of an exchange I had with my born-again, evangelical sister. Now she is a very smart person in some ways, a straight A student from from kindergarten through her liberal arts BA. But, I kid you not, when I confronted her with some Bible inconsistencies she actually said "In some styles of writing at that time, the facts were not important." Eeek!
Papabear, that reminds me of a quotation I once read that had been attributed to Herodotus (and is at least closely reproduced here): "In recording the past, one often finds that the best things happen at the wrong time and the rest not at all. The conscientious historian will correct this defect."

*sigh* So, if I accused you of satanic abuse, it wouldn't matter if you'd not done it, it happens somewhere in the world so clearly I should be instantly believed? If that's the case, lead me to a lawyer, I have a nice long list of names here and I know the world would be a better place if they were locked away for a VERY long time. If, on the other hand, you'd like a chance to defend yourself and would like us to NOT assume you're an evil satanist, I strongly suggest you give other people the same credit.

Now that I've relieved my grammer compulsion, you fail.
A lot of innocent people have been tortured and executed due ton this kind of thinking. More recently, a lot of people have been imprisoned and had their lives ruined by phony accusations of SRA. All of this being done with no evidence of any wrongdoing, or at least, any that warranted such treatment.
Oh wait, I forgot, to fundamentalists there are no innocents. Everyone is guilty of something to them.
