(Here's something we don't see every day)
I don't agree to disagree. People who are against abortions are wrong, and I'm right. It's a simple fact.

We should see more of this. I love using the fundies behavior against them. When they have an unshakeable conviction of their own righteousness, I adopt the same attitude of total unthinking conviction of my own opinion and watch them beat their head against a brick wall.
"Never argue with a stupid - he'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience."
Do you really mean to go down the slippery-slope of extremist argument technique?
Hope that helps,
Grey Wolf
Well, he's obviously a troll (could tell even without Yule Goat's subtle hint), so I don't place any judgement on him personally...but arguments like that don't exactly elevate you above the fundie pro-"life"rs.
I think that either this guy was a little confused at the time(and he meant the opposite)or it´s a troll, or, the living case that this is fundies say the darnest thing, not just Christians.
I agree with Mister Spak. I think that "Asimov's" namesake would not be too happy about his logic-less style here, but there is something sublimely symmetrical about fighting conservative fundie obstinacy with liberal fundie obstinacy.
I recall someone once saying that you couldn't fight the rabid pro-life platform without being equally rabid in the other direction to start with. The one side says "every pregnancy must end in birth." The pro-choice concept is too moderate to take on such an extremist view. The way to counter it is to adopt the position "every pregnancy must be terminated before birth." It's just as extreme.
THEN you can whittle away the extremes and arrive somewhere in the middle ground.
So yes.. in some sense, there is something worthy in two opposite extremes canceling each other out.
Fundies are unable to process logic and nuance, so trying to explain and defend a rational abortion policy is a waste of time. Just go for energetic unapologetic ass kicking, and save logic for those who can apreciate and understand it.
Fundies respect only power used against them early and often. Don't waste time with logic, use power immediately. Later, the battered and bloody fundie may be in the mood to listen to logic, then you can put away the cluemace and explain reality.
This is like fighting fire with fire. That doesn't work. More than being pro-choice or pro-life, we need to always remain pro-logic. When the tactics are wrong, misleading, and perhaps even vile, you take the higher road. Not the same.
Agreeing with Mr. Asimov here is one thing (I'm sure most of us do), but it's hypocritical to applaud him for using this kind of debate "tactic" while deriding and mocking religious fundies for doing the same thing.
You prove yourself better than fundies by being reasonable, intelligent, and informed. Fighting fire with fire doesn't work.
"He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you. He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." -- Friedrich Nietzsche
"Now now, perfectly symmetrical violence never solves anything."
YES!!!
I fuckin' love you for that.
it's hypocritical to applaud him for using this kind of debate "tactic" while deriding and mocking religious fundies for doing the same thing.
How about, there shouldn't be a debate about the bodily integrity of humans?
People who are for forcing others to donate their body parts for the use of another are wrong, and I'm right. It's a simple fact.
If he was engaged in a debate in the source, then that's a poor response. And sometimes these vital moral concepts like bodily integrity do need to be examined and discussed. But I should be able to say "I have the right to have an abortion if I want to" without having to defend it, because I shouldn't need to provide reasons why my body's my own.
"If someone were arguing against a person who claimed that 2+2=5, I'd just tell them they're wrong and I'm correct."
Yeah, but only within the fixed laws of mathematics. And even 2+2=4 is apparently questionable...
The author of this fundi say the darnest article is from exchristian.net...I was in the middle of typing out my response when they banned me...LOL They are a bunch of weak people over there for they have to resort to banning me for I speak the truth. I want ASIMOV to wire this message back to the right owner of this message and to thank them for a good time well spent..

I prayed after confession to stay sin free. I begged god to reveal himself to me. The results? Nothing
So after a lifetime of this energy wasting, guilt induced behavior, I said FUCK IT all.
Since, my life has improved and my energy level soared.I guess god found me unworthy.
I can't believe I lived such nonsense for half of my life. Godlessness is my first true revelation
Ex Catholic eh? Well have you gone through the sacrament of confirmation? Do you know what that blessed scarament is for? It is to make you strong with your faith in the religion for the holy spirit will guide you. I guess the holy spirit got drunk one night and left you astray so now you blame it all on God and his Catholic church.
When you go through a confession session and when you walk outside of your church, do you feel lighten and air just taste so Crisper as though as god has entered you and give you peace within yourself for that very moment only? You will never feel the same feeling again for now you have cross on over.
You don't have to worry about sin and all them other lies about the church for now you are free. You don't have to pray anymore and anything that reminds you of your previous church life will be a constant reminder of the first half of your miserable life. Besides, we all want to walk ahead, not fall back right?
It is a little trade off but hope it was well worth it?
Dear Shamman,
ExChristian.net is for the purpose of encouraging those who have left Christianity. It is not for you to fucking critize them and try to convert them to your brand of cult. The Lion's Den is a place where little evangelists like you can go get your jollies. This is not the place for your silly views. Respect it, or fawk off.
BTW, you're views are nuts.
Well I left Christianity so where's my encouragement? My views may be nuts but Christian views are Fawking NUTS.
Here's something to ponder about. We all try to be different because differences make us unique. Even kids these days are revolting and dressing or acting out of the norm and they too think that they are different. When they throw their parties, in a given room, everybody elses looks the same so what's so unique about it now?
Just like Christianity where the members are zombies, listening, praying to something that someone else imprinted in their minds about. Damn pastor and missionaries, yes I know. But the same concept can be applied to you as well. If I agree to everything you say, I would make you happy but then again, I'll be like a mindless Christian wouldn't I? Dare to think outside the box that is already on the outside?
oh and guess who said this quote? LOL
if abortion is right, you wouldn't even be here today for you are made out of a mistake. <<-- This fundy says the darnest things.
Ha ha ha ha.... ok, i plead guilty
Excuse me Sam I am.
How is spam when you are being an active member on there?
Just prove why I don't belong there sounds much better. A bunch of same minded individuals like always. Oh well, plenty more great websites out there to join anyway. That site hardly moves at all. Thumbs down for the so self proclaimed, the number one exchristian site on the net..ha ha...makes me vomit baby jesus out.
I'm not ban..ha ha..I see everything you say..ha ha..Biatches....

Dear Ramen666,
I am not ban. I can see you but you can't see me. I am tired of posting over on that site for most will say that I do not belong there. If I'm ban, I can't really see you, live in action..LOL Here's my proof...did you type this around the time I'm typing this?
Shaman got banned. Thats the news I have been wanting to hear since yesterday
Feel free to stick around for the second coming of the Shaman like the second coming of Christ. LOL
here's a hint so spread the word...after Valentine's day where I will bring some Love back into each and everyone of you guy's heart...
May your exGod serves you well.
"Yeah, but now he is posting all sort of weird crap on the fundies say the darndest things site. Take a look."
I take that as a compliment, Scarlett, for I say the darnest things huh?..LOL
Um...he's kind of right. The anti-choicers are wrong. Just because he doesn't provide the reasoning behind his position doesn't mean he doesn't have any. In fact, what he's saying, evident from the first sentence, is that he wants to continue the discussion, and he doesn't want to let the anti-choicers in the thread get away with "agreeing to disagree" and refusing to listen to reason.
Wow. Seriously, Asimov, I know that pro-lifers are big on the unfounded assertion of self-righteousness, but we're better than that. We actually have coherent, logical arguments (crazy, I know). Start using them.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
