You're kidding, right? Judaism, Christianity and Islam have all killed and tortured millions.
Why would an Atheist care about life anyway?

Why do atheists care? Because we don't believe in an afterlife. Think about it. In pretty much any belief system that deals with life after death, death is, at it's core, just. In the afterlife, or next life, or whatever, people only get the treatment they deserve. Get punished forever? According to the religion, they actually deserved it. As such, religion holds that death is not a bad thing.
If there is no afterlife, however, death is PERMANENT. when someone dies, everything they are, everything they were, is gone FOREVER. As a result, to just forcibly rip someone out of existence, for any reason, is an atrocity of the highest level. To an extent, we place a far higher value on life than someone who believes death is somehow inherently just. THAT is why we care.
...
Well I care about SOME life.
Like...
Like my parents...
Well, my father anyway.
Uh, that one girl I knew in high school.
...
...
That one dude I know who lives down the street from me, he's pretty cool...
But that's not because I'm an atheist.
Judaism, Christianity and Islam have all killed and tortured millions.
[Yes, correct]
Why would an Atheist care about life anyway?
[derail...um, because despite whether we have a religion to guide us or not, we are man just as you, and as such, we uphold the same basic morals anyone else would have. No greater idea exists than the golden rule, because that rule can bring humanity together, or thrust it apart]
p.s. thanks for avoiding the question dumbass
Son of a Nonymous- Behind you all the way
I value human life far more than any christian I've ever met, partly because I'm an atheist-
I don't blame illness and death as things to 'let god sort out'
Or that people who fall victim to any situation outside of their control is justified and deserved punishment from god
I keep in mind that life's a gift ( even though there's no 'giver') it's precious and temporary and far too short to do anything other than live peacefully and amicably with every other person on this planet. We don't all need to agree, we just need to stop KILLING people who don't. It's not that hard.
So, forgive me for saying that all these insignificant acts of fundamental sabotages, brought on be people on any religion, that are prohibiting my life and the lives of every other person is FUCKING SELFISH. I couldn't care less if another person follows a religion and believes in God, but try and bring that shit into our LAWS, CONDEMN and CRIMINALIZE and punish me or anyone else;
I.will.take.you.down
Actually considering that he made the point of how many those religions killed,
Keep in mind that the first paragraph is someone else, who Thale is then responding to at the bottom.
Umm.... who have the Jews killed? As an ethnic Jew, I'm slightly offended by this (actually more by the Jew part than the atheist part, since I'm used to the latter). I mean, there were wars, and violence, especially in the early days, but I cannot recall Jews ever systematically assaulting any other group, not the way Christian or Muslim extremists do.
I'm not surprise this was found on the WoW forum. They've seriously got some of the most bigoted, ignornant, fundie, racist, and CT quotes on the internet.
Why would an Atheist care about life anyway?
Because christian fundamentalists obviously only care about unborn life, but not life that is already born ;)
Maybe because this life is the only life non-believers believe they may get? (I'm agnostic, but I'm more inclined to say there isn't a God than there is, and if there is, the deistic version with no afterlife).
This is our only chance to live. I don't want to waste my one chance to live or that of others either.
Eternity in heaven would be meaningless anyway. I don't believe in a magical kingdom (Disney?) in the clouds.

They're probably referring to the Biblical account of the ancient Isrealites, who are presented as a pretty darn bloodthirsty people conducting genocide at the bidding of their pretty darn bloodthirsty God (just like most every Bronze Age group, of course). The Bible's not a truly reliable account, of course, but given that it presents such genocide and bloodshed as a VIRTUE to be encouraged means it was most likely conducted to some degree and Judaism has blood on its hands, too (again, just like any other religion, which would be the first guy's point).
The book of Joshua, in particular, is full of God commanding the Israelites to kill every living person in every city conquered.
... because we believe this is the only life one has?
... you know, instead of just a stepping stone to Heaven/Hell.
This life is the only one we get, so I don't want to give it up any sooner then I have to and I'm not a fucking sociopath and I actually give a damn about other people, so I don't want them to get murdered either.
Confused?
