Hate the sin, love the sinner.
Homosexuality is curable. If it wasn't, I'd be saying they should be put to death.

Homosexuality isn't a disease, homosexuals don't need curing, and all available data points to fundamental sexual orientation not being something that can be changed. The most that was managed was to brainwash homosexuals back in the closet, creating broken and self-loathing people conditioned to present the appearance of heterosexuality... Give me a happy and well adjusted homosexual over one of those "ex-gays" any day.
Bank robbery, car-jacking, fondling little girls, arson, insurance fraud, burning a cross on someone's lawn: jail time. Having sex with someone in the privacy of your own home: death penalty. What is the fundie obsession with homosexuality?
Ok, let's pretend for a moment that it's "curable", like you say.
That means that homosexuals, according to you, CHOOSE to be such. However they can be cured so that's ok.
If they couldn't choose, instead, and that were just the way they were born... they should die.
So according to your reasoning, the way your God created them wouldn't be good enough for you, and you'd destroy god's creation... whereas if they can be "cured" then they become man's creation over god's and that's dandy with you.
Are you better than god? I think not.
Homosexuality isn't a disease, and, therefore, does not need to be cured.
Also, since the Bible says homosexual men should be put to death, are you saying that the Bible is wrong about it's position on death for gay men?
If there was a real cure for homosexuality I'm sure we'd all know about it by now.
There are enough gay men and women who go through hell before finally accepting thier sexual orientation, that if a cure was made available to them, I suspect a good many would take it.
That being said, this ain't no fucking X-Men movie.
Mike - The prevailing conspiracy theory is that the mainstream psychological and psychiatric organizations were forced to change their stance by the growing homosexual lobby. The theory continues that the majority of the members of these bodies want homosexuality to be reclassified as a mental illness but that now that homosexuals control the top levels, they silence or ruin any dissenters.
It's hilarious to think that there are actually people out there who believe this.
[OT] Is it just me, or are some of these captchas really hard, even for a human? I keep getting lots of very tightly edged green lines which kind of destroy any hope of reading the green text. Had to refresh this page twice to get one I could actually read.
Bob, actually, the whole reason that homosexuality was put into the DSM as a psychological disorder was because it was considered "common knowledge", until it was more or less proven to not be a disease.
socktree - This is exactly my point. It was put in there without solid reasoning. These people are basically saying that all of the evidence that it is not a disorder was fabricated by the homosexual lobby or somesuch.
"I know it's the queers! They're in it with the aliens! They're building landing strips for gay Martians, I swear to God!"
Bob_Zimmerman: Regarding the captcha images, yes, I have trouble with them, too. Besides the difficulty of just reading them, I also cannot tell the difference between a zero and a capital letter "o." But at least the refresh option is available, and I'm delighted at how well this has cut down on the spam.

David D.G. - Looks like everything is in hexadecimal, so it's just 0-9, a-f. All lowercase. I refreshed a few times to be sure, and I've not seen any other characters so far as I can remember. Still kind of weird.
Then again, I'd bet that this would be an extremely difficult problem for machine vision. If the edges aren't defined for me to see properly, a machine should have an even harder time of it. That's the the idea, anyway. ;-)
One thing I'm noticing, though, is that Safari treats the entry field as a retainable form field, so if I type in it, Safari tries to fill it in based on values I've entered previously. I wonder if there's a way to fix that.
Wait a minute. If homosexuality is an illness or a disease that can be cured, it´s not a sin, because, in order for it to be a sin, it must be totally voluntary, like the eating of the apple in the paradise. You can´t call a sinner a person who is insane or has diabetes, for example. Second, if it´s a sin, well, not all sins are punishable with death, not least to say that some must not be punished AT ALL, like adultery, with the positive law, as Christ stated very clear with the ones with no sin cast the first stone. So, the famous motto from St Agustine may mean, in the case of the latter, ok, homosexuality is a sin, but, come on, leave homosexuals ALONE, they only respond to God, if that any.
Behave as I say you ought to, or die? Christian Taliban. They do exist. I'd advocate about the same sort of negotiation with them as any other radical death-cult; Sweep them into a padded room and issue free white canvas hugging shirts to all of them. Bat-shit insane death fetishists with a persecution complex, are not normal. They're bugfuck insane, and ought to be treated as such; At least your kind of crazy is treatable, and actually crazy as opposed to genetics, Exonoesis.
Huh. Maybe the Romans knew what they were doing...
Let's hope religious fanaticism is curable. If not, I say "make 'em lion chow!".
Confused?
