The Pill is used by about fourteen million American women each year and sixty million women internationally. Thus, even an infinitesimally low portion (say one-hundredth of one percent) of 780 million Pill cycles per year globally could represent tens of thousands of unborn children lost to this form of chemical abortion annually. How many young lives have to be jeopardized for prolife believers to question the ethics of using the Pill?

At the current rate of global population growth, the world population will rise from it's current 6.5 billion to 9.1 billion by the year 2050.
Without significant breakthroughs in energy and food production techniques this will mean a global energy crisis of epic proportions and mass starvation.
And you jackasses want to make that come even sooner all because you have faith in an unproven, unprovable, unknowable spiritual being that will magically prevent this from happening by ending the world before the crisis occurs and sending all believers to "Heaven" and everyone else to "Hell?"
I respect that you have faith, but by promoting this kind of irresponsible crap, you are forcing the entire world to also depend on your faith. You don't have that right.
Chemical abortion? These pills prevent ovulation so the mommy's egg can't be fertilized by the daddy's seed. How's that abortion? Unless life begins before contraception now?!
Does that mean every time I don't have sex with a woman I'm lusting after I've committed abortion?!
OH NO!
Damn, I want to get an IUD and screw every many in site now, just to piss these peopke off.
I can be a mass murdering whorebag too, whoopee!
Randy...
Take
a
pill
and chill.
Thanks.
contraceptive
adjective 1 preventing conception. 2 relating to contraception.
noun a device or drug used to prevent conception.
conception
noun 1 the action of conceiving a child or of one being conceived. 2 the devising of a plan or idea. 3 a concept. 4 ability to imagine or understand.
One can not abort that which was not conceived.
I will never understand this kind of thinking.
They're against abortion because it takes a life (as they see it).
They're also against the pill, and presumably other kinds of birth control, because it removes the potential for creating a life in the first place.
You pro-life fuckwits can't have it both ways.
Either you help women get proper birth control, or safe abortion. You can't force them to have kids.
Hell, I'm a man and I don't want to be forced to have more than the two I can support already simply because my wife is still fertile.
Frankly, I would think you'd choose birth control, being that you see abortion as the far greater evil, but maybe requires intelligence, something fundies apparently lack.
So what Randy is now saying is that a single cell egg, and a non-cell sperm... is a person?
Wow, just when I thought prolife(ers) couldn't get any more idiotic...
I found this comment about the book:
I am a first-year family medicine resident at SWMC. I have made the difficult decision to not prescribe any contraceptives (pills, patches, IUD's, etc) in my practice. The main motivation for this has been Randy's article Does the Birth Control Pill Cause Abortion? These possibilities were not taught to me in medical school and I really believed that the Pill completely suppressed ovulation. Now I know differently and it has changed the way I approach women's health care. I encourage Natural Family Planning and I am trying to put together some resources to give patients. I wanted to let you know that as a ministry, you are changing hearts and my wife and I are all the more committed to life. We had been on the pill for our first 3 years of marriage. After we both read the article, we felt that the Spirit was telling us to trust God and not use contraception except NFP. It has been the best year of marriage yet! We are even expecting our first child in April! Thank you for preaching the truth fearlessly even in the face of so much confusion in the Christian medical world. - D. H.

One hundredth of one percent is .0001, but that is still far away form infinitesimally low.
And I have decided that whatever you do somebody thinks it is sinful so I just don't care anymore.
Woah, whaaa? Don't you mean tens of thousands of abortions AVOIDED? Because, you know, fertilization never occurs.
Sheesh, what do these people think of periods, then? Apparently even haploid, separate gametes are "unborn children" to them. How many unborn children am I responsible for, in that case? Probably about 80 by now... and I snigger to think about the guys.
Oh god, it's a QuiverFull fuckwit. Do these people really think that the Imaginary Sky Wizard will rain manna from the heavens to feed their eleventyfour kids who are contributing to the overpopulation of the planet? I mean, Sky Wizard Man sure as fuck hasn't helped those starving people in EVERY THIRD WORLD COUNTRY ON THE PLANET.
Fucking douche. "I'm white and Amurrican, Gawd will throw sausages at my head!"
Ok so isn't that tens of thousands of abortiosn that never happened? Tend of Thousands of kids that werent' born to women not yet ready to have kid, tens of thousands of kids that weren't abused or neglected or put into a cycle of poverty becuase thier parents should not have had kids at that time?
Sheesh, if they aren't going to trust women with the choice, what sense does it make to trust them with a child?
So....if you follow his logic, having a period is an abortion too?
Women stop menstruating or God's gonna be furious!
Another good candidate for "Pi is exactly three" award. 12 * 60 = 720. also, by this logic, they should just harvest all the ovum as soon as they are fully formed, and save them all!
Interesting that DH wasn't so proud of his actions to give his full name.
I wonder what other aspects of his faith he brings to his practice:
STD - whore!
gay - abomination
mental illness - demon possession.
incurable agonising disease - die in agony, trust god not too send too much pain, or you're being PUNISHED!
If he's in a partnerdhip has he told his partners of his beliefs and offered to resign?
Has he told his patients he's a fundie who will put his own beliefs before their well-being?
Lets all sing together now
Because
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate.
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate.
Let the heathen spill theirs
On the dusty ground.
God shall make them pay for
Each sperm that can't be found.
Every sperm is wanted.
Every sperm is good.
Every sperm is needed
In your neighbourhood.
Hindu, Taoist, Mormon,
Spill theirs just anywhere,
But God loves those who treat their
Semen with more care.
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate.

Wait...how is that abortion?
Pro-Life Fundies says life starts when sperm meets the egg, right? Pill is to be used BEFORE sperm meets the egg. THAT'S NOT ABORTION!!
So, life begins before conception now, eh?
So every male having a 'wet dream' during the onset of puberty is engaging in abortion, right?
What the hell is wrong with you??
Just for those of you not in the know...Alcorn is actually an author with several (fundamentalist) works published. One of them, "Lord Foulgrin's Letters", is basically a fundamentalist iteration of "The Screwtape Letters". You may be able to find his works in your library, if it's large enough.
So preventing conception is the same as abortion now? What about sperm then? At somewhere between 20 and 40 million gametes per ejaculate on average, it probably took me less than a year as a teen to be singlehandedly responsible for more unborn children than the present population of the planet. I didn't know I was such an insanely genocidal maniac.
What morons like Randy fail to take into account is the number of women who are not taking the pill as birth control, but as a hormone supplement to treat a chronic condition (menopause, perimenopause, endometriosis, etc.).
He's also blissfully ignorant apparently of the number of fertilized embryos that for some reason or other fail to implant and get washed away during menstruation.
A true visionary in the field of female reproduction, that Randy.
the Pill is not an abortion, it prevents ovulation, and thus pregnancy in the first place, in the first place.
Even the Morning After Pill is not technically an abortion, as it prevents implantation, and you aren't pregnant till implantation occurs.
1. "Birth control" pills are, when stripped of all their mystique and connotations and what-have-you, simply synthetic hormones in pill form.
2. With that said, there can be (and are) other reasons besides prevention of pregnancy for the prescription of these hormones. Many women take them to regulate what would otherwise be an irregular and uncomfortable menstrual cycle. The fact that they prevent pregnancy is a plus.
3. Birth control pills DO NOT chemically induce abortions. What they do is alter your body's hormone levels to mimic those present during a state of pregnancy, so that your ovaries do not produce/release an egg once a month. No egg means no fertilization by sperm, and no fertilization means no pregnancy. That's it. In sum, it's like having sex while pregnant. Nothing happens, therefore nothing's aborted.
Honestly. People like you are the reason that people end up with kids that they can't support - you guilt them out of taking the proper steps to prevent pregnancy by twisting the truth like this. >:(
Thus, even an infinitesimally low portion (say one-hundredth of one percent) of 780 million Pill cycles per year globally could represent tens of thousands of unborn children lost to this form of chemical abortion annually
Imagine how many unborn children are never born everytime you don't fuck the nearest woman of childbearing age in sight? Even if you don't want to commit a crime, why aren't you having as much as sex as you can possibly can with as many women as possible to make sure every unborn child is being born?
Confused?
