[T]elevision is like Obamacare and other forms of socialism. The many have to pay for the needs/wants of the few.

What? Television is paid for by advertisers or cable subscribers. I don't get how this is socialism. Maybe if we had a system like in Great Britian where you have to buy a license to watch TV, and if they catch you watching TV without one you get fined. And yes, they actually do have vans driving around picking up signals from people's TV's just for this purpose.
I *think* what this person is talking about is the fact that when you get TV service you buy access to a bunch of channels that you might not want to actually watch, but enough people do that they're included anyway. It's still not socialism though, since it's private companies doing these things and not the government...

Television is a business.
Each network is a separate business. Each TV show is either the Network’s effort to make a profit, or a studio’s effort to make a profit. They sell ad time. Many sell merchandise. Different businesses package the networks to make THEIR profits.
It’s pure capitalism.

Okay, that’s a new one. There’s nothing good on TV because of the fucking socialists.
I assume you saw a gay character and think that ONLY the gay viewers want ‘that shit’ on the screen.
Or there was a reference you didn’t get on Big Bang Theory and think the show is aimed at Nerds.
But, again, it’s THE FUCKING FREE MARKET. If there aren’t enough people watching teh show they can’t seel advertising time on it, so it’s the exact opposite!
The Many control what’s delivered.
The many have to pay for the needs/wants of the few.
That IS the logic behind most pay/benefit cuts when companies trim the fat and pad their executive bonuses with that fat.
However the logic behind what you broadly, lazily, and almost never accurately label as “socialism” is that when everybody pools into a fund that cuts the overall costs of operation and everybody has equal access to the benefits everybody’s quality of life improves not only those who started with an advantage or one at the expense of any other.
As for television… Bitch, change the channel if you’re butthurt about representation. It’s not entertainment’s responsibility to censor reality and carefully craft all fiction to make you think you’re the only demographic that matters or is the only one to even naturally exist in your country to make it easier to mentally catalogue anyone else as some kind of invader and if you think token appeals are just pointless “additions” for easy cash you’re crapping on free market capitalism.
Confused?
