(Why can't we just have a respectful discussion (on abortion) without all of the opposition bashing? It seems as if we're trying harder to bash the opposition more than trying to prove our points. I mean it won't get anywhere doing that.)
It's kinda hard to debate peacefully when the other side openly commits murder

You will never have a civil debate on abortion.
One side believes that the other is committing whole-sale institutionalized murder, and you don't have discussions with murderers.
Their opposite numbers believe the other side is attempting to force them to adhere to moral and religious stances they simply do not hold as valid.
There is no common ground here. There is no room for the anti-abortionist to compromise. Either it is murder, or it isn't. There is no grey-area for give and take for the anti-abortionist. Whereas the pro-choice stance does have room to compromise, this is irrelevant, since the only "compromise" the anti-abortionists will accept is total adhearance to their moral position.
I suppose I have revealed my own bias here by decling to refer to them as "pro-life." I don't use that term because it carries the statement that a fertilized egg is, in fact, a human life. Let the war of the words commence!
Oh so ironically, you're not talking about bombing abortion clinics when you say that are you?
R-NJ: Republican nut-job?
If it's New Jersey, I suggest you go West and don't forget to wind your watch back 50 years to adjust for the time zones.
On the other hand, It's kinda hard to debate peacefully when the other side openly commits murder of reason, logic and intellect. When despite overwhelming evidence they continue to assualt my sanity, rape the english language, and destroy civility with biblical manslaughter. But I guess a fish can't build a cathedral, right?
So in other words, Shayne, that's a "no"?
I normally don't reply on abortion postings. Sandman is right, there's no discussion possible on the issue. The same problem exists on the issue of animal rights, which some people accept and others don't. Neither will ever convince the other to change their feelings on the matter.
Uh, Shayne, ol' bud, that's pretty much what the debate is about ... whether or not abortion is murder. I vote no. How about you?
Well let's be reasonable now, it's not like ALL anti-abortionists commit murder. That's hardly a fair thing to label them with - and further, consider that if one DOES consider it to be murder, and the murder of innocents on the scale suggested, one can likely find it quite easy to justify murder in retaliation. I would certainly kill someone who was killing tons of people, the point is simply that I don't consider a fetus to be people. That is where the problem lies, not in the resulting actions of that conclusion.
something bugs me: according to my legislature (france) an abortion is not permitted if 4 months pregnant (6.5 in spain, i think). by that time the fetus is a mass of cells slowly forming into something bigger... a tumor starts out that way, too. are there people out there as against the removal of malignant tumors as of the removal of a life-threatening (for the mother) pregnancy?
I'm pro-choice, but prefer it to be a last resort kinda thing, as in "not-view-it-as-a-convenient-contraceptive", and more the save one life rather than kill two
WE can not discuss abortion respectfully because you morons dont know the difference between a legal act and murder.
Call back when you know the difference.
Hint:
murder = unlawful killing
abortion = legal
Confused?
