For the record, I do NOT advocate any kind of "rule of the ruthless". My point was that such Social Darwinism would increasingly come to the fore as liberalism decays. It might take the form of tribal anarchy or totalitarian technocracy ... but it will come.
This is why traditionalists hate and fear liberalism. Apart from its own intrinsically evil qualities, it unleashes atavistic forces which it cannot check.
"Quarry the granite rock with razors, or moor the vessel with a thread of silk; then may you hope with such keen and delicate instruments as human knowledge and human reason to contend against those giants, the passion and the pride of man." - John Henry Newman
One can see a parallel development with atheism, which is clearly in the process of mutating into varieties of neopaganism.
"Man is born to believe. And if no church comes forward with its
title-deeds of truth, sustained by the tradition of sacred ages and by the conviction of countless generations to guide him, he will find altars and idols in his own heart and his own imagination." - Benjamin Disraeli
