yeah, it's strange that? the moon doesn't fall on earth if the current theory of gravity was true.
the earth is not the center of the solar system, but it could be the center of the universe.

Oa is the center of the universe; Earth is the center of the multi verse. =3
Gravity does not work that way. By your standard, the Earth would fall into the sun.
And just what "theory of gravity" do you have in mind? In western culture there have been three distinct theories (Aristotle's, Newton's, and Einstein's) and physicists are working on a fourth.
Of the three that have been developed, two are considered "current" (Newton's and Einstein's). In both, the moon is behaving just as we would expect and that doesn't include the moon "falling" to the Earth.
Well, it could, but it is unlikely to the extreme...
Your "theory" is based on which observations? Go on, Im waiting...
*crickets*
Is this idiot vying for the "stupidest fundie of the year" award?
I suppose he also thinks that the sun & moon travel through the atmosphere of earth. I also suppose he's never realized that if the earth were the center of the universe, then the stars have to be traveling faster than light speed in order to circle our planet every day.

technically, the moon IS "falling" towards the earth.
This is actually correct.
The moon is "falling" toward the Earth but is "missing" and the Earth again is "falling" toward the Sun, like all the other planets and NEO's (NEO=Near Earth Object)
And our solar system is "falling" toward the black hole at the center of our galaxy and this Galaxy is "falling" toward the gravitational center of the Local Group and so on...
Let's see. If we act on the assumption that the universe is infinite in size, that means that any point on its surface is its center.
Therefore, watergaia is the center of the universe. That makes perfect since, otherwise, why would everything be trying to get away from him (her?) as fast as possible?
For those of you saying that she's technically correct about the earth being the centre of the universe as the universe is infinite ...
... do you REALLY think that's what she means? That she's aware of that subtlety?
Or is she just right by accident?
"the moon doesn't fall on earth if the current theory of gravity was true."
So that would make gravity true correct? the moon does not fall on the earth
"the earth is not the center of the solar system, but it could be the center of the universe."
Fraid not there bucko, not according to what scientists have witnessed and mapped.
You failed English too I see
The moon is far enough away from the Earth not to fall on it as you so eloquantly put it...
There are many more planets out there than Earth, and probably with more intelligence...
Even if scientists didn't understand why the moon doesn't fall to the Earth, it wouldn't mean it was magical. It would just mean it was unknown.
There is more we don't know than we known, but that doesn't mean we have to think everything we don't know is magic.
Nope, They would have noticed an odd swing by now. We're not even the centre of our galaxy and it's moving too
Things that orbit are held in a very slow freefall (and the moons far away)they also recieve a repel effect due to their swing around (like a fly on a record, but not exactly like a fly on a record. obtuse enough?)
yeah, it's strange that? the moon doesn't fall on earth if the current theory of gravity was true
There is nothing about the current theory of gravity that would suggest that such a thing would happen. If that were the case then they would need to modify the theory since it's not possible under the prevailing one.
the earth is not the center of the solar system
Though many of your fellow fundies still fail to realize that, or at least fail to admit it.
but it could be the center of the universe.
Except that it isn't.
LAWL
watergaia is a troll
Let's see...
Assuming the size of the universe is infinite, could it be possible that Earth is at its center?
Of course, according to that logic, so would Charon, Alpha Centuari, and the space probe Voyager.
The moon, as everyone knows, is the great ship that brought our ancestors to earth. Possibly a vogon freight ship but still.
Falling toward the earth and missing is how humans can fly. I read it in a book so must be true.
Dumbledore for president. !!
First off, gravity doesn't work like that.
Secondly, yes, it is just about possible that earth is the centre of the universe but it is very, very, very unlikely.
Nobody is this stupid.
Right?
Well, of course it's not falling toward the earth--its suspensor engines do a good job of keeping it up there. It's actually a gigantic, sentient Utu-class starship named the Dahak, built by the Fourth Imperium. The captain scuttled the ship following a mutiny led by the chief engineer, Captain Anu. After the mutineers were forced off, it followed its primary directive and smashed Earth's real moon to rubble and used it as camouflage.
See, mine is bullshit too, but at least it's more entertaining than yours.
Confused?
