I know most people don't believe in bigfoot, but after years of being interested & months of researching all the evidence, I'm a firm believer. I think as Christians we should try to prove it exists. Why? you may ask. Because the existence of bigfoot would blow a big hole in the theory of evolution. Descriptions of bigfoot by witnesses fit the description mainstream science has for a very early link in the so-called chain of evolution. In all cases where an animal has naturally evolved from another, the modern one is the only one in existence today. Dogs & cats don't count because they only evolved through the intervention of man.
What do you all think about Bigfoot?

First of all. I pretty much don't think Bigfoot exists. There just has never been any scientific discovery of any kind to indicate their existence. Nothing. No skeletal remains, no hides, no teeth, nothing. That being said, how would the existence if Bigfoot blow a hole in evolution? It would only show another branch in the evolutionary process and that Bigfoot was the lastest manifestation of THAT particular branch. It would be no different than any of the great apes, humans being one of them.
Could it be possible that Bigfoot exists? Possible but unlikely. But then there are new species of animals that are being discovered all the time. How did these animals live all this time without discovery? They didn't. Because evolution IS still taking place. If you want to continue this assinine way of thinking, looks to me that we can blow a big hold in the whole "Goddidit" theory.

Sure, man made animals evolve... Thousands of years ago we were really into altering DNA, which caused some malpractise suits after which all technological achievements were forgotten. Spacestations drifted of towards the sun and floating cars crashed and burned on very specific locations leaving behind metal veins in the ground. After 2 more days man started living in caves staring at the miracle of fire.
Then god came along and made everything perfect. Well except the whole "god", "made", "everything" and "perfect" part.
Maybe I should start a religion, I've got the far fetched stories.
I don't believe "bigfoot" exists. Just as with your God, there is no evidence of "bigfoot."
That being said, I don't see how the existence of "bigfoot" would blow any size hole in the ToE.
I think the only evidence we have here is that wvbig flunked biology.

I do not know whether it is true or not (I have my doubts, but because of the modern creature's competition for resources with its predecessor, it's possible), but it is not required to be so for evolution.
While I'm highly skeptical of bigfoot, I hope they find it too.
"In all cases where an animal has naturally evolved from another, the modern one is the only one in existence today."
Mokeys... apes... humans. All still alive.
Duh!
"Tranistory phase" doesn't mean it will go extinct. The only reason it would go extinct is if another animal comes along and fills its niche better. Or kills it off. Even if bigfoot exists, it does nothing to the theory of evolution. Bigfoot would fill a different niche from humans, so there's no reason it would vanish.

Wrong.
First let's look at dogs and cats. Surely you don't think man is responsible for coyotes, jackals, wolves, foxes, lions, tigers, cougars or jaguars.
But OK, lets forget about these "pets". How about African and Asian elephants? Dromedary and bactrian camels? All the different species of whales and dolphins? Frogs and toads? Fish? Birds? Beetles???
There is no reason to believe that bigfoot, if found, is a direct ancestor of humans, but for an example of an existing animal evolving from another existing animal, check out this about polar bears evolving from brown bears .
Of course, this is where all intelligent discussion is thwarted by the nonsense of "kinds."
The problem here is with fundie logic and misunderstanding of what constitutes a scientific theory. They're more than just a guess .
Because their Bible is so easy to disprove by the simple observation of the real universe, they figure that finding one mistake, or an outright fraud, in a scientific theory invalidates the whole theory. Not so, it changes it and forces us to reevaluate the data, but it rarely destroys the theory.

This line of reasoning leades me to three possible conclusions
1) There is only one animal species alive today, or
2) Common Descent is untrue and each animal species represents a seperate lineage with an independant origin, or
3) The quoted statement is false
Identifying the correct one is left as an exercise for the reader.
Actually, Bigfoot would kind of support evolution. It would have to be a very, very close relative of humans, therefore showing that we're very closely related to apes.
Also, crocodiles have hardly changed since prehistoric times.
"the modern one is the only one in existence today."
Funny how that works.
Also, guess what: fish, amphibians, reptiles, and monotremes are all still around. Mammals didn't kill 'em off. That's not how evolution works.
I do not believe Bigfoot/yeti/Sasquatch/etc exist. I do, however, believe that a prototype of the legends DID exist - after Homo sapiens had almost wiped out Neanderthals in Europe, if someone saw a few, what would he say about them (especially before almost any science/explanations had been developed)? Now take that persons impressions and distort them through thousands of years of oral history and exaggeration. What do you get? Bigfoot. That simple.
Not like any of the fundies on that forum would even begin to understand what I'm talking about.
AHA! He admits cats and dogs evolved!
but, through the magic of crimestop, he is unable to realise it.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
