I love the 'godless Inquisitors.' What symbol are we going to make first-offense heretics against atheism wear? Crosses of shame for the Christians, and so on depending on the heresy? No, that's backwards, too Nazi, not enough Inquisition, but we don't have an atheist symbol to sew on.
Where do you even send people for atheist pilgrimages? Science museums? And how fine are our points of doctrine going to be, to merit conviction?
I mean, yes, the Nazi party adapted a lot of the tactics of the medieval Inquisitions, but since the clerics running those pretty much invented the indexing system and codified like half of basic modern legal procedure, pretty much everyone who keeps decent records does, and the fact that they were running a very similar but much bloodier operation made it pretty inevitable.
But really, referencing two rounds of Christian authorities enforcing a normative Christianity on everyone with blood and ink doesn't really sort all that well with claiming the Christians are oppressed.
Though to be fair I'm sure you're an evangelical, and most Inquisitions would have eaten you alive for all your heresies.
Assuming you had the nerve to talk them up in an actually oppressive context.
