Things said after a sexual assault...
About a man: Are you really going to ruin someone's life over this? He's young, of course he's going to try his luck with a woman. What's he even supposed to do, ask permission to look in her direction? Should he live secluded from society and never go to parties? He can't live sheltered and on guard for every little accusation anyone might make, there's too much that can be taken the wrong way. People need to go out and have experiences in life. Besides, he was drunk. We've all done dumb stuff when we were drunk you can't hold him accountable for that. He's got his whole future ahead of him, are you really going to take away everything good he'll ever do because of one mistake that isn't even really his fault?
After time passes: What? He was a kid back then and that was so long ago. Just let the past lie. Think about everything he's made for himself, you can't take that away from him. This is an outrage! How do we know she isn't just using this accusation to rob him of his livelihood for gain or out of spite? Women shouldn't be able to just attack vulnerable men like this, how are they supposed to defend themselves?
About a woman: Well what the hell do you expect? She should take some responsibility for herself, getting drunk at that party. I mean getting drunk, how stupid was she? Why was she even out partying when she could have been doing something productive with her life? She should have grown up a long time ago because this kind of stuff follows you for the rest of your life and now she's paying the price. She shouldn't go around giving people ideas, she needs to watch what she says, does, wears, and who she hangs out with. That's just common sense.
After time passes: Once a slut always a slut, should we just forget how irresponsible she was? Just because she looks like she has her shit together doesn't mean she isn't still the same stupid mess underneath, I mean really bringing up something that happened that long ago? Doesn't that just say she hasn't changed? It's her own stupid fault and she shouldn't forget there are always consequences for your actions. There's always something she could have done to stop it.
Hmm. Something of a disparity there, no?
