The matter of the Coronation Oath is a vital subject, complicated by the fact that the oath that Elizabeth swore allegiance to in 1953 was illegally altered in 1910, to remover reference to the Catholic Mass as "superstitious and idolatrous" in accordance with Article 31 of the Church of England (no wonder the C of E got rid of these articles some time back) my emphases:
The offering of Christ once made is the perfect redemption, propitiation, and satisfaction for all the sins of the whole world, both original and actual, and there is none other satisfaction for sin but that alone. Wherefore the sacrifices of Masses , in the which it was commonly said that the priests did offer Christ for the quick and the dead to have remission of pain or guilt, were blasphemous fables and dangerous deceits ."
The spiritualist Conan Doyle was a prime mover in the illegal alteration of the oath, it appears.
4 years later, Britain was embroiled in the horror of WW1, a consequence that I don't believe to be coincidental.

So to punish the British, he caused someone to assasinate an Austrian Archduke, causing a chain of events that would eventually engulf Great Britain...as well as the rest of the world, more or less. Because, I mean...WW1 affected far more than just Britain, just so ya know. Using a nuke to kill a fly much?
Given the anti-Catholic basis of the Church of England since its establishment in 1534, I think you're talking shit. Further, the Test Act was repealed in 1829 so I find it difficult to imagine that an anti-Catholic element was later included in the Coronation Oath three hundred years after the Articles were first stated. Earlier yes, later no.
In any case, you'd find it difficult to get more than a few percent of the current population of the UK to agree that -- even if your claims were true -- it mattered in the least fucking bit. Mrs Windsor can sit on a stick and swivel for all most of us care.
If god ever existed...'right' /Sarcasm
Don't like him or his followers! Evil Bastards!
I would become a pagan or a Buddhist (although I don't like the, bad in one life you become a disabled person in the next.)
So Queen Elizabeth II was born in 1926, succeeded to the thrown in 1951.
Mr Conan Doyle became a spiritualist during the Great War due to his depression. Losing so many close relatives, either through natural death or the war. He was a depressed and desperate man. However this had no bearing on Queen Elizabeth. The Catholic Mass was gotten rid of hundreds of years before Liz. The reason we as a nation are fundamentally Church of England is due to King Henry VI wanting to get his end away. Although thanks to the Civil War, we began the separation of Church and State. When Charles II came back to England, he was the head of the Church of England and Parliament ran the country. (In some ways the basis of the USA)
The Great War had nothing to do with religion. It was about the politics of Europe, and the Paranoia that surrounded the creation of Germany. We only got involved because we promised protection to Belgium, and when they were invaded we declared war. As one British ambassador said 'The lights went out in Europe'.
Except for the Monarch thing, but based on the rights of man and Parliament. You know what I mean!
@Antichrist
So why did the rest of the world get involved if your god was pissed at Britain?
God was so pissed off with Britain we had an Empire for nearly 300 years.
I was brought up to believe God was a middle class English man. You telling me that this is wrong...... Oh the shame. LOL
You do realize that Britain's major ally, France, was/is a predominantly Catholic nation? And that their enemy, Germany (at least the Prussian parts of it that were in control) was Protestant?
And the year where Catholics were both allowed to vote, that is, 1846, nothing happened. Your point?
you disrespectful ignorant cunt. so what you are saying is that since Briton changed some of doctrine ww1 happened. small history lesson for you. during that war both sides told their leaders to fuck off and played football with each other on Jesus's birthday. And a fair chunk of the soldiers from both sides worshipped god. the war could of ended that day everyone could go home and not think anything of it and remember the dead go on with their lives. but it was the generals of both sides that kept the war going. the spark that started it was the assassination of a king. The political objective of the assassination was to break the Austro-Hungarian south-Slav provinces off from the Austro-Hungarian Empire so they could be combined into a Greater Serbia or a Yugoslavia. The assassins' motives were consistent with the movement that later became known as Young Bosnia. The assassins did not work alone. They were supported by an "underground railroad" of Serbian civilians and military officers that provided transportation and hid them; and members of the Serbian military that trained them, encouraged them, and provided weapons, maps, and other information. not because of some british dude changed the words of god.
So the entire continent of Europe got embroiled in a bloody and costly war because England changed their oath?
Well needless, senseless, and random mass slaughter is the typical MO for Yahwe.
I'm still stuck on how changing an oath in 1910 affected the network of treaties and alliances that caused the rapid build-up to WWI, especially since most, if not all, were made prior to 1910. Some of them were as old as forty or fifty years by that point. Wow. Doyle really planned ahead.
Wow. Haven't seen a good, old-fashioned Episcopalian v. Catholic battle in awhile. Probably because my parents are still in love after decades together, which I prefer to picking fights.
England made the slight alteration in the 20th century of removing hatespeech, and God's only response is to wait four years for revenge, assassinate an archduke, and murder millions across the globe? Do you have any idea how asinine you sound?
Confused?
