As Obama said in his response to the underwear bomber incident:

"Blay blah blah ummm blah blah extremists blah blah power blah umm bah blah"

Obama will never pursue Al Qaeda as agressively as the Bush administration, in part beacause deep down he kind of thinks they have a point with all this Great Satan stuff, but mostly because it's not all important to his base. The kind of extremists they care about have "God Bless America" bumper stickers on their F-150's and express reservations about carbon taxes, gay marriage and taxpayer funded abortions for pre-teens. Those are the kind of people you need to keep your eye on.
