Really do you believe both human eyes evolved with 3d focusing... at the same time- TWO SIMULTANEOUS randomly formed eyes? The evolution theory is even more weird as each male AND female 'randomly' developed the same two type eyes, That's four SIMULTANEOUS randomly formed eyes, dual random simulataneousness/duplicated!

The eye only has to develop once. Like all vertebrates, we have two sides that form more or less like mirror images of each other.
Also, eyes didn't evolve separately in males and females. Everyone starts out as a proto-female. Then they get turned into males via hormones. The eyes are already developing well before this happens.
Wow...I never thought about that before. The Nobel Prize Committee would just love to hear from you and your swashbuckling destruction of Darwinism and hence modern biology.
Did you REALLY think that was a problem?
Eyes did not form "randomly"...they formed gradually in one of the earliest species we evolved from, and then improved so that they reached the state that we currently have them in (as compared to, say, dog's eyes that see color poorly, or cat's eyes that can see more effectively in darkness than our own). And...females and males are the same species, so it doesn't develop in both separately...
The beauty that is not understanding evolution...
"Really do you believe both human eyes evolved with 3d focusing... at the same time- TWO SIMULTANEOUS randomly formed eyes?"
Nooooo. What kind of moron would believe such a stupid thing?
"The evolution theory is even more weird as each male AND female 'randomly' developed the same two type eyes, That's four SIMULTANEOUS randomly formed eyes, dual random simulataneousness/duplicated!"
Men and women are not divergent species you know. Apparently you don't realize that you were female for a short period of time in the womb.
Aside from that, as long as something in our lineage developed eyes at some point , and survived long enough to breed, the genes for eyes would be passed on. Being that it's helpful to see what the hell is trying to eat you so that you can get away, eyes became a hugely beneficial trait to have so it was passed on quite easily.
Really do you believe Spanish evolved both an imperfect tense and a preterit tense... at the same time- TWO SIMULTANEOUS randomly formed past tenses? The linguistic evolution theory is even more weird as each Spanish speaker 'randomly' developed both the ability to speak in those past tenses and the ability to understand them when spoken, That's four SIMULTANEOUS randomly formed past tenses, dual random simulataneousness/duplicated!
ArgleBargle--yeah I didn't think "simultaneousness" was a word either, but I looked it up, and it's there. "Simultaneity" sounds a lot less awkward, though.
Oh, yeah, and this guy is a moron.
short answer: no
Long answer: there is no reason that two eyes had to develop at the same time, It could have started out as many (spiders may have 6,4, or 2 eyes and flies have what are known as compound eyes) or a single photosensitive eye spot.
secondly males and females did not develop independently of each other when it comes to most parts of the body.
We're attracted to bilateral symmetry. Would you breed with someone who had an eye on their forehead, and one on their cheek?
It's even been proven in zebra finches. They'd rather breed with a mate with a band on each leg, rather than one with only one band on. How low down the evolutionary tree this preference goes, I have no idea. Then again, how do you test the sexual preferences of slugs?
And if your god made us, why did he give men nipples? They're absolutely useless. And what's with the clitoris? Women aren't supposed to enjoy sex, they're just walking wombs.
Actually, it's not that random at all, all your genes are from your mother and father and the DNA makes your eyes form, not god
Antichrist:
Hate to nitpick a great post but:
"And if your god made us, why did he give men nipples? They're absolutely useless."
Nipple clamps. Surely a sign that God wants us to be kinky and multiply.
If Anomalocaris and Opabinia are any indication, fairly complex eyes (i.e. better than just the light/dark sensors of planarians) materialized relatively early. In fact, I'm pretty sure squids greatly predate humans, and they had VERY complex eyes back then...
Or perhaps one gene just said 'express the blueprints for this eye twice in locations X and Y in both males and females'
Next you'll be saying that the human gene has to code for every cell your body ever makes SEPARATELY.
"Too complicated for my simple mind to comprehend, that must mean its not true.
Now goddidit is a much more simple answer, that must mean it is the right one"
Well actually evolution is far more fascinating than the eyes developing independently even 4 times (whatever Woese is talking about, though, is BS) - it has probably been developed independently about 40 times - from compound lenses in flies to camera like eyes of octupi and mammals (even camera like eyes can be hugely different in their arrangements).
"Bad enough the guy gets eye development totally wrong. Worse is that he is so unaware of his own ignorance that he has the brass ones to post that to Pharyngula of all places. He's going to get his head handed to him by folks far, far better educated on the subject than he is."
I don't know the site myself, but you're right - he's getting his poor ass owned on there.
Uh...evolution takes both make and female. Never mind that ridiculous "rib" story, we both evolved together. Now for a really good explanation of how the eye formed, may I refer you to a very good book by Mister Darwin.
Ever notice that we have two of quite a lot of things, one left and one right? Perhaps that mutation came very early, and the mutation for photosensitive cells came after that. And, male and female might have come even after that.
Humans are a fairly young species, ya know; most things that we take for granted had already been tested and tried by older now extinct species.
Your refusal to accept facts as, well, facts, that's what's weird here, dolt.
Why, no, of course I don't believe that. Pffft! Randomness, simulataneously, from nothing?
Ridiculous! I believe the first matching pair formed at once magically from dirt!
And the next day two more magically appeared out of a rib from the first dirt. Ha! Checkmate, atheists.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
