I feel whores are necessary since they exist. Otherwise God would do something to make sure whores never exist.

Hmmmm, is someone trying to justify a recent visit to the red light district?
"Honest your honor, God wanted me to get laid! Why else would he send the woman to my car window to ask if I wanted to have fun?"
About 5 years ago I hired two african american whores to have a threesome with. We met in a hotel room and it was the most amazing experience! These women were hot and when it was over, one of them asked if i had a girlfriend. I said no and for the next two months I had some of the best free sex in my life. Things didn't work out in the end, but it was definitely worth it.
'Whores' exist because patriarchies keep women in degrading, objectifying, submissive roles (in the name of "God's will") and are often treated as mere property and/or playthings for men's amusement.
Given education, opportunity and positive emotional support, women can get well paying jobs that don't require putting themselves on display like objects and selling their bodies so that they can feed their families or pay the way for school.
It's supply and demand. As long as the one's in power keep demanding sexual titillation and gratification, and have the money for it, 'whores' will continue to exist.

I agree with that, but substituting "humans" for "ones in power." I don't think the existence of prostitution is because of institutionalized sexism, I think it's, as you said, supply and demand. People want sex, people have money, and money can be exchanged for sex.
Nekhbet: I like this game! Let's see what else I can devise...
"I feel [appendices] are necessary since they exist. Otherwise God would do something to make sure [appendices] never exist." Well, okay, that one's pretty tame. What about this one?
"I feel [atheists] are necessary since they exist. Otherwise God would do something to make sure [atheists] never exist." Is that better?
Isn't this the fundamental theistic explanation for anything and everything? If something bad exists, then let's not blame ourselves - God MADE it exist, so we'll just trust he knows what he's doing. If a baby dies, God had a "special plan" for it, so everything is alright. If God wants to correct something, then he will. Otherwise, you should sit down and shut your mouths, you lie-beral bastards!

The problem with this is that "people" here are overwhelmingly males. Women rarely buy men for sex, and even when they do it doesn't exacerbate the social situation of other men because men don't live in a world where they are routinely viewed as products for consumption in that way.
I love substituting "gay" for "whores," though. Awesome.
@Nightson
"Whores are proof that there is a God and he loves us" ~Benjamin Franklin (the real quote)

Not disputing you, Night, but I thought Benny's quote was "Beer is proof that God loves us." Though I suppose as a beer drinker I picked that up through the brewing industry ads.

>> Do you think it's possible that whores exist because there is no god?
hmm, so to follow your logic, an existing God would prevent prostitution because prostitution is bad ?
A Dutch crime-novel writer and ex-police man who worked in the Amsterdam Red Light district (Baantjer) said: (loosely translated)
"IMHO, these women (prostitutes) are doing God's work ...."
And frankly, although I tend to deny the existence of any God, I agree with the core of his statement, prostitutes provide a vital service to the community, and have done that since the beginning of times.
(not that I attribute altruistic motives to the most of them, but then again, the same goes for most firemen, policemen or military)
Confused?
