It is frightening that the ignorance of science costs so many lives. In fact it is reported to be the third leading cause of death. Science is a powerful weapon that is quick to kill if your not careful with it. You had better be careful who you trust and who you believe, because it could cost you your life or the life of a loved one. As your post seems to point out that ignorance on the part of science can cost people their lives. It is interesting to note that when science goes out on strike then less people end up dieing during that period of time. Perhaps they do more harm then good, but they just lie to people to try and deceive them into thinking they are getting help, so that "science" can get into their wallet and get their money. So if you see a evolutionary scientist heading in your direction the best course of action maybe to grab your money and run the opposite direction.

That´s perfect. An idiot who can´t read and write properly telling me that it has been reported(by whom?)that science is responsible by one third of deaths. How is that, can we die of blood analysis or of the second law of Thermodynamics?, WTF award.
The only thing I can agree with is that "The ignorance of science" is the third leading cause of death.
Otherwise he thinks scientists kill more people then respitory disease or car accidents, and of course, that's just silly.
Gneh? o_0
John makes even less sense than usual... Unless by "ignorance of science" he means not reading the safety labels that for example tell you not to mix bleach and acid-based detergents, I suppose.

Boy, I remember the big Science Strike of '73; there was no gravity, or chemical reactions, or electricity, or inertia, or biological functions, or light, or heat, for three or four weeks. My dad tried to cross their picket lines and they beat him sensless with test tubes and slide rulers. Thank goodness President Nixon signed the Bible into law and made them all go back to work; otherwise we all would have surely had to sacrifice our first-born to appease the Sky Demon.
It is frightening that the ignorance of religion costs so many lives. In fact it is reported to be the third leading cause of death. Religion is a powerful weapon that is quick to kill if your not careful with it. You had better be careful who you trust and who you believe, because it could cost you your life or the life of a loved one. As your post seems to point out that ignorance on the part of Religion can cost people their lives. It is interesting to note that when religion goes out on strike then less people end up dieing during that period of time. Perhaps they do more harm then good, but they just lie to people to try and deceive them into thinking they are getting help, so that "God" can get into their wallet and get their money. So if you see a Fundamentalist Christian heading in your direction the best course of action maybe to grab your money and run the opposite direction.
I think JohnR7 is retarded, but his error in mistaking doctors for scientists is a common misconception.
Medical doctors are not generally scientists-- yes, they may be well-versed in scientific findings, but they generally aren't using the scientific method regularly to make discoveries about the natural world (as opposed to supernatural). The job of being a medical practitioner is more akin to that of a mechanic (albeit a mechanic dealing with very complex machines).
If a mechanic fails to fix your car, can you blame it on the scientist who discovered that gases expand when heated (knowledge that makes the combustion engine possible)?
Science is simply a method of testing propositions to improve understanding, JR7. That's it. It doesn't kill people. People can use the understanding to kill other people, but the process of obtaining knowledge is only deadly if your brain is too feeble to handle the stress.
So maybe you should watch out.
Kirk out.
Stop using computers.
And modern medicine.
"the ignorance of science costs so many lives"
The Large Hadron Collider. Done pretty much what it was built to do: prove the existence of the Higgs-Boson, to confirm the Standard Model proven to exist - on paper - by Cosmologists. Nope, no black holes that swallowed up the universe. No dimensional portal formed, which brought forth the beings from Xen (put that crowbar down, Dr. Freeman!), nor Cyberdemons/Strogg [/"DOOM III"/"Quake IV"]. We're still here. Still using the LHC to answer the further questions provided by it finding the Higgs-Boson.
... but Michael Behe's reputation has been sucked down a shitter in Xen, after his FAIL in Kitzmiller vs. Dover, though, so at least science has done some positive destruction. Of Creationism. >:D
Confused?
