The reason why I threw out logic is because people think it is the bastion of secularism when in reality it is a religious belief unto itself.

Ok, buddyboy, let's go down your path.
God doesn't exist because purple monkey dishwasher.
Go ahead; prove me wrong.
@Detrs:
But what if I were to build a working model of a small solid-state capable of addition, subtraction, and the storage and retrieval of small binary numbers which was based entirely on pipes, water pressure, and transistor-like valves?
@cyborgtroy
I'd be damn impressed.
One the one hand, this seems to be the most honest statement made by a fundie yet. After all, how could one hold any of those various silly ideas, in the face of some pretty overwhelming evidence, unless one completely disengaged one's belief system from any of the usual control mechanisms?
"I believe not because of the evidence, but in spite of the evidence," that's what the speaker is saying.
On the other hand, I think logic itself dictates that this is a POE. Thinking, after all, is not just the having of various mental states, but having various mental states in a certain structure, or order or pattern. I just don't think one can abandon logic like that unless one undertakes to act randomly.
In the final analysis, it may be likely that the best our esteemed fundie could do is to jettison good logic in favor of bad.
Mailpouch's grasp on reality is very slippery. He should check out a dictionary for the meanings of
reason
logic
people
think
bastion
secularism
reality
religious
belief
He may be sort of okay with his usage of the other words ('I', 'is', 'it', 'the', 'a' etc).
I have taken a logic class. Lots of mathy stuff, lots of translations, lots of Lord of the Rings references (don't ask)...no religious references whatsoever. But it's nice to see someone admit that reason and his personal favorite flavor of brainwashing can't coexist.
It's downright terrifying that fundies not only throw away reason and logic, but also do so openly , as if they were rival religions.
I think that if I wrote a book and had the characters spout this kind of crap, the editors would write it off as too unrealistic.
Sadly, the thread's been deleted from the WoW forums.
However, I was able to retrieve the Armory page for "Mailpouch":

Turns out, there are only 2 of 'em -- a level 70 human warrior, and a level 12 blood elf hunter. Assuming for the moment it was the 70 warrior who was talking, his character sheet speaks volumes. He's Arms/Fury specced with 2v2 and 3v3 arena ratings.
In other words, he's a PvPer. And you know what thin-skinned zealots those PvPers are.
"people think it is the bastion of secularism when in reality it is a religious belief unto itself."
Okay. So Secularism is a 'religion' like yours, eh? In that case, we Secularists demand our tax exempt status. And who's going to pay our back-tax rebate - with interest: you?
...what's that? You & your fundie ilk aren't prepared to pony up the billions to pay said tax rebate? Well then. You've just destroyed your own argument.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
