For years I have believed that Senator Kennedy is a very bad man. And while I would wish cancer on no one, for me to now collapse into a fit of concern and compassion would be disingenuous. We are all going to die... (I know I plan to...) and the Senator can afford to pass painlessly and peacefully.
Maybe we should pray that this illness would cause the Senator to publicly repent - and thus glorify G_d.
Maybe the Senator will publicly turn away from his support of abortion, the gay agenda, His efforts to separate G_d from our schools and our institutions... And maybe he will repent of his personal life style.
I believe G_d uses illness to bless people... By getting their attention off the world and onto Him.
Senator Kennedy has the opportunity to turn a lifetime of mistakes into a glorious witness. Maybe we should pray for that.

As much as I respect Senator Kennedy he is rather old and was so reckless with his health the fact that he's still alive is at least a bit puzzling. The idea that gawd is trying to get his attention is laughable. By all rights his liver should've failed decades ago yet here he is!

My prayer group was talking and it seems that one of the deacon's wives knowns a lady that helps with cleaning at the Kennedy compound.
She went into his room a few days after his diagnosis and he was reading the BIBLE! She asked him what he was doing and he said, praise the LORD, that he was reading "a grand old book."
She nearly fainted but the Senator continued, "Yes, I've given up the false religion of catholic and became a CHRISTIAN." He then praised the LORD and said that he never meant NONE of that evolution stuff too be taken for real and that there was no way that his theory could be true. Same for gay marriage.

I have always heard and read that Sen. Kennedy is a devout Catholic in his PERSONAL life. I'm sure he has a personal relationship with his god. I'm also sure, that while your prayers would be welcome by him and his family, to pray for him to repent is beyond arrogant. What exactly has he done that he needs to repent? Who are YOU to decide any penance is required? STFU!
He has been the epitome of grace under fire through some of the most tragic and demoralizing moments in our nation's history.

I know for a fact that it wasn't fucking PAINLESS! He couldn't even get up the fucking stairs to go to bed! The night he died, he collapsed in the bathroom and my mother and grandmother couldn't get him up. He was the strongest man I know. He worked building machinery for years, worked two jobs, raised four kids, fought in WWII and was legally blind in one eye because metal shards would lodge in his eyeball when he was building parts! He had countless tattoos from the army all over his arms, chest and back and he gave over 10 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross. I never saw him cry once until he had to live through cancer. It hurt him so badly, he cried like a baby. And none of us could do anything to help him. Now you tell me that cancer is fucking painless, you ignorant, useless, fucking ASSHOLE!

Kennedy is an old man. Considering we all die anyway, I'd say that the number of years he has lived is evidence that your god isn't interested in him. If he were trying to give him some kind of message through his health I'm betting it would have been much more effective had he done it when Kennedy hadn't already lived a full life.

This mistaken idea that 'god' is God's name is plain ignorance. Besides, it's only the Jews who don't speak God's name. There are many Christians who pronounce the Name as Yahweh. But this too is mistaken. The only one who knew the Name was the high priest in Jerusalem, and he said it only once a year in the holy of holies in the Temple. The Name si spellt with the Hebrew letters Yod, Heh, Vav, Heh, and no one seems to know what the vowels are. Hebrew, like Arabic and other Semitic languages does not write vowels - short ones, anyway.
But to carry this practice over into English is redundant and irrelevant, not to mention utterly a mistaken concept.

I believe the Israelites held God in such reverence that they wouldn't speak His name. Some modern Jews and Christians will only write "G_d".
When I address someone of this persuasion, as I was in this case... I write "G_d" out of respect to their beliefs.
I always find this site interesting. I don't understand the hatred, but it is always an education. The people I work with... My neighbors... People I associate with... None are like you. You must be - very much - a minority.

The ancient Israelites didn't say their precious god's actual name(s), Yahweh/Jehovah. That is why he was called "God". God was in fact their euphemism for Yahweh/Jehovah, so you don't need to say "G_d".
God, Lord, Father -- these are titles. His real name is YHWH (or ????) and thus God is also called Tetragrammaton (means "four letters" in Greek) sometimes.
