Wikipedia has spoiled the atheists rotten. Every time a fact is stated, they expect a source.

You don't need sources, huh?
I've kind of heard some reports that "timothy" referenced above is actually a Satanic Messiah!
Now, don't look at me like that! I don't need to state my sources, right? Fact is a fact, no matter where I heard it or who came up with it! We need to talk to the Wikipedia administrators to put that to the Did You Know section.
"Every time a fact is stated, they expect a source."
While not atheist, without the source, it is an opinion. And Wikipedia sucks
No, good teachers (as opposed to the ones in your overpriced Christian school or your mama's homeskuling) have "spoiled" atheists, Pagans, and liberal Christians. The need for citations did not begin with Wikipedia.
Hey, just because someone told you something, especially people like Ray here, it does NOT mean that it is anything resembling actual factual truth.
Just because you believe something, it does not mean that the rest of the world is required to believe the same thing.
Wikipedia is a good starting point, as they always provide references. That's the nature of the reality business. Accrue as many independent sources as possible, and the misconceptions, mistranslations, gaps and outright lies are easily filtered out.
So, what are you so resistant about? Are you afraid you'll learn that you've been believing bullshit all along?
I think that I wanted "facts" to be backed up with "evidence" long before wilkipedia. Uh, isn't that what makes things "facts" in the first place?
Oh, I'm sorry, you meant the facts that aren't really true. My bad.
Every time a fact is stated, they expect a source.
So do school teachers. Maybe that's why Timothy got Ds.
LOL, yeah, expecting sources for facts is really wrong of us. We should just believe and take at face value whatever is posted by whomever on whatever subject.
Instead we ask, "Can you back that statement up?"
Which really ruins the fundies argument.
Every time you quote your book o'bullshit, you usually quote the source. (eg. John 3:16) Atheists simply require better sources than your book and its writers. (and Wikipdedia for that matter, in my case)
Well...you can't have a fact without a source, otherwise it would not be a fact.
Plus, you really can't call the Wonderful World of Wikipedia a scholerly source since anyone can edit it. Fun site though.
I'm confident you will find MANY theists who also expect sources for claims. Why do you think so many Christians, Jews, et al. these days understand that many of Genesis's stories should be taken as metaphor, rather than unalloyed fact?
Wikipedia has made it easy to provide sources. That makes it suspicious if you don't.
In contrast, I have proof that God doesn't exist. Don't expect a source, though. You just have to take my word for it. Because I say so.
Every time a fact is stated, they expect a source.
This inbred dumbass seems to think this is a bad thing.
Oh, right, Heaven fucking forbid we expect people to back up all the shit they talk with actual evidence! Why can't we just take people at their word, dammit!
Damn you Wikipedia and your incessant need for truth and veracity!
i love wikipedia for all my non serious research...i can spend hours at a time randomly tralwing through articles, finding out fascinating stuff like 0.99999 recurring = 1, its makes me feel complete, along with making fun of dickwads like timothy on fstdt and worshipping the fsm
No shit, Sherlock.
Welcome to the real world, where facts are not made up bullshit but are, em, facts. As in, verifiable. You get it?
You are right, we are spoiled by Wikipedia (and the internet in general).
Before, if you wanted to know if something is true, you had to go to the library, which could have been far away.
If the library didn't have what you were looking for, you would have to go through the more laborious method of experimentation or live with not knowing.
Now we have the technology to give information to all, which is a good thing.
Be thankful for the internet for giving you the option of not getting your hands dirty for knowledge.
Timothy, buddy, it's not just the atheists...it's anyone who has a brain--you know, like God created us with! It makes no sense for God to create us with brains and get pissed off if we use them!
Wikipedia has spoiled the atheists rotten. Every time a fact is stated, they expect a source.
Without a source and being verifiable, it's not a fact; it's an opinion.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
