Without a divine power there is no purpose to the existence of anything and therefore we have no purpose whatsoever. Your inabilty to accept a higher power is based on your preception of the fact that nothing could ever care for you as an individual and therefore you must deny any entity that proves to do so.
Futhermore the purpose of your earthly exsistence is simply a test to accumulate your true identity via trials and tribulations that form your very being. How can you accept that you simply exist for no purpose other than continuing the survival of your species?

You're right - our existence has, in a cosmic sense, absolutely no purpose. But unlike you, I am going to enjoy it without worrying about some fairy tale of a mean dude in the sky.
I feel truly sorry for you, since you can't find meaning in your life without believing in something else.
"Without a divine power there is no purpose to the existence of anything and therefore we have no purpose whatsoever."
yeah. so?
"Your inabilty to accept a higher power is based on your preception of the fact that nothing could ever care for you as an individual"
actually, it's based on the lack of evidence for such a power, as well as the lack of an explanation as to how such a being could ever exist.
"How can you accept that you simply exist for no purpose other than continuing the survival of your species?"
Because we've been doing it forever, that's what all the other animals do, and it's bloody obvious.
But it's not really a purpose, it's just what evolution wants us to do. Purpose sort of doesn't exist.
And so how does being molded of mud by a skydaddy automatically create a purpose for your life? According to you, it's all pre-planned anyway, just following the inevitable if unintelligible script in Revelation. You think you know how it's all going to end, and can do nothing to change it, so why does anything matter to you?
Uhm....
Don't we find our own reasons for why we want to go on living?
In my couple of years of non-belief, I have more reasons not to stick my head in the oven than in my many years of belief in your crazy system. Yay me!
Well at least the questions are well thought out, unusual for a fundie.
Whether or not I can accept the fact that I simply exist for no purpose other then the continuation of my genes (not my species - MY GENES) has no bearing on the fact that it is true. Your lack of acceptance also does not change the fact that it is true.
Sorry dude, no tests, no trials. You die its forever so you better get busy living and stop with this nonsense.
Your inabilty to accept a higher power is based on your preception of the fact that nothing could ever care for you as an individual and therefore you must deny any entity that proves to do so.
No, I don't believe for the same reasons I don't believe in unicorns. I tend not to believe in stuff that doesn't have a shred of evidence. I'm big on credibility, okay? If the evidence isn't there, I have no reason to believe it.
I exist because my father didn't pull out, big fucking deal. I quite enjoy my life as well, either way. And if your purpose on earth is a test when God already knows who you are, then that's sad. What was the purpose of Adam and Eve's existence if they had not of sinned, therefore we wouldn't be in the here and now to "accumulate a true identity via trials and tribulations that form our very being"? Dumbass.
And what do you suppose is your purpose once you die? Sucking immaculate cock until 'ever? Sad.
Without a divine power there is no purpose to the existence of anything and therefore we have no purpose whatsoever.
- A purely personal opinion.
Your inabilty to accept a higher power is based on your preception of the fact that nothing could ever care for you as an individual and therefore you must deny any entity that proves to do so.
- You know this exactly how? Have we ever even met or discussed this?
Futhermore the purpose of your earthly exsistence is simply a test to accumulate your true identity via trials and tribulations that form your very being.
- Again, a purely personal opinion.
How can you accept that you simply exist for no purpose other than continuing the survival of your species?
- quite frankly, the answer to this is 'Mind your own business!'
Life is what you make it to be, not what some God determines it to be. I seek ways to improve myself and the people around me; The way I do it is community service, getting a degree and biking across America. I don't wait around for someone to hand me a purpose when its too late.
@cool cats: Agreed.
Why do we HAVE to have some divine, cosmic purpose? Why do we need to be preordained for...what, by the way? You claim that through God we all have a purpose, but what purpose IS that? Why can't we just BE ?
Being a dirty, hateful pawn in the half-revealed, mostly psychotic and unpredictable plans of a sky daddy are apparently the "meaning" you think our lives should have? I'll pass.
Any half-assed attempt at meaning I try to give my life is infinitely better.
How can you accept that you simply exist for no purpose other than continuing the survival of your species?
How can you accept that your only purpose is to be at the beck and call of a psychotic sky daddy for all eternity?
"...is based on your preception of the fact that nothing could ever care for you as an individual...."
Well...you're ugly!
Also, do you have any fucking clue how selfish you sound right now? "The world only has meaning if it's meant to be a test to see who all gets into heaven. Naturally, I'll be--what? Survival of the human race? Who cares about those pricks?!"
Without a divine power there is no purpose to the existence of anything and therefore we have no purpose whatsoever.
Maybe that's true for you, but the rest of Humanity is busy trying to improve itself in order to make a better future for the next generation.
How can you accept that you simply exist for no purpose other than continuing the survival of your species?
I exist to improve myself and to work toward the betterment of Mankind.
Ha! I exist because my folks wanted a child. They got a son. They got me, too, so it was a twofer.
And life is what we make of it.
"we have no purpose whatsoever"
No.
You have no purpose whatsoever.
I invented physics.
That's called inventing one's own purpose.
Do die in a fire soon.
Actually, the atheistic viewpoint of the universe gives humanity far more purpose than the theistic one. To a theist, human beings have a set "purpose" that is utterly inescapable, because it was all already written out for us by a superior being. No matter what we do, or what we don't do, it doesn't matter, because the outcome is exactly the same either way. It's all pre-written and planned out. The atheistic viewpoint on the other hand, while acknolwedging that human presence in the universe is absolutely meaningless right NOW, does not count out the possibility that we can grow as a species to the point where we're making serious changes to our immediate universe as we see fit. Become our own Gods, so to speak. Unlikely, but given time, it could definitely happen.
So, you fail.
Confused?
