Excellent point! I've often wondered why we Christians allowed evolution to be taught without the opposite view included. Having been raised by Christian parents, I don't even recall being taught evolution, but I must have been and it just didn't make an impact on me because my parents taught me the true story. But, for those kids who don't get taught about God and Jesus at home, it is really unfair and unAmerican to teach something that has not been proven as fact without teaching opposing views, which include intelligent design and creation.
We have tried, but like the calvary, the ACLU (American Communist Lawyers Union) always comes in and saves the day for the evolutionists.

Perhaps it's as well that evolution has been proven as fact them, isn't it?
"opposing views, which include intelligent design and creation."
Intelligent design is creationism. And it's not enough to have an opposing view, you need an equal weight of opposing evidence as well. Come back when you have it.
(And, no, this doesn't count!)

Not every parent wants their child to learn about your god. School is for learning facts. If you want them to learn about Jesus, take them church.

The ACLU will also protect christians when someone discraminates(sp?) against them because of their religion.

The ACLU protects your right to practice your religion freely. For some reason, you have a problem with them giving the same protection to everyone else.
The ACLU defends everyone, goddamnit. They fought for Fred Phelps, they fought for NAMBLA. They help anyone, regardless of how insane.
Gee you know I don't remember being taught evolution in school either. When I came along we were simply taught science which included evolution, and I never thought about it. I was also raised by Christian parents and learned creationism in my church and my home. You know what, I considered it religion then, not science and I still do.
The CALVARY? I think he means caValry.
No, no, no. He means Calgary.
Blame Canada, blame Canada...
@ Paschal Wagner
OK. I have nothing better to do this evening, so yes, let's blame Canada. Those Canadians are far too nice and need to be gingered up a bit to make them use technicolor language and blaspheme.
Yeah. Calgary. That where those dirty Canadians crucified Jesus? They learned how to do this from watching videos about Matthew Shepard?
Then I can demand the Norse creation story gets taught also.
How would you like that?
Right after Adam and Eve we can learn about Ask and Embla. How do you know Odin wasn't the Intelligent Designer?
And one more thing, your Bible has not been proven as fact so that would make it unAmerican by your own standards.
I grew up in a Christian household too. When I questioned my parents how Adam and Eve and the whole of Biblical Creation fit in with dinosaurs, evolution and prehistoric man, they told me that Creation in the Bible was a myth written by primitive men and wasn't meant to be taken literally.
Too bad your parents weren't as smart as mine.
It's interesting that they pay lip service to the idea of not teaching things that have not been proven, yet they want not to teach something that HAS been proven, and to teach something that has no evidence, let alone proof.
I've always wondered why we teach things that are clearly true [i.e., math, geography] without teaching the opposite views. [Numerology, anarchy]
Isn't indoctrination wonderful. Don't think, the pastor knows all.
Home - do what ever floats your boat.
Religion - that's what churches, mosques, synagogues and temples are for.
School - where knowledge is taught.
Ever tried contacting the ACLU to find out what they REALLY do? No? No surprise there.
If you want to follow the bible - brick yourself inside a church and leave the other 99.999% of normal humanity to get on with life as it actually is.
"Obviously I was taught it, even though I don't remember it happening, because my friends at Rapture Ready say so!"
Sigh. My biology teacher just skipped that chapter, teaching us about things like DNA and cell biology instead. I'm not sure why. I wish I could ask her, now, she was a great teacher.

Creationism has never been proven true according to science, and separation of church and state is in the Constitution. So, not unAmerican. And, speaking for myself, I would rather be taught what science thinks than what religion thinks. Science has a scientific, and therefore realistic, basis.
The problem with this is there are so many "opposite views", no matter what you think the only creation stories are not Teh Truth o' Creationism and Antichrist Evolution.
Why aren't we taught that the earth was born out of Thors armpit?
"calvary"
spell check, asshat

"Allowed" isn't the right word. People like you never allowed anybody to teach evolution. You simply failed to prevent it, because your religion isn't calling the shots any more.
I agree with this person, but there are some way wrong things here. First....ID is creation. It is UnAmerican to teach something that hasn't been proven, but there are so many sources that say a bunch of fundies back in the middle ages rewrote the bible accoring to their views. The ACLU has done things for both sides of the argument. That's like saying the NAACP is racist towards white people. And the reason we Christians let evolution be taught in school is because if you layer theories of atheism and Christianity together, they actually combine and make an unstoppable force of evidence. I believe in Evolution and Creationism. God made animals he made them evolve. There you go. Evolution has pretty much been proven. And don't get me started on "the earth is 6000 years old". Its not. end of story. Go research a little bit more. BTW, fundies suck.
The opposite of evolution REALLY shouldn't be taught.
Only a fundie could support a teaching that says harmful mutations accumulate until there's no biodiversity on Earth, and the only living organism is a pool of greyish sludge that keeps trying to kill itself.
We have tried, but like the calvary [sic], the ACLU (American Communist Lawyers Union) always comes in and saves the day for the evolutionists.
The ACLU doesn't prevent public schools from teaching creationism; the Constitution does. The ACLU just rats on people who violate the law.
So, you equate the ACLU with the crucifixion of Jesus?
Good, then you believe the ACLU is fulfilling prophecy and should be left alone.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
