[Q: It is reasonable to ask others not to impose their religious beliefs on other people?]
It's not reasonable to ask Christians that. We are called to go out into the world and deliver Christ's message. It is unreasonable to ask us not to do what our God has instructed us to do.
It IS, however, reasonable to ask athiests, buddhists, and others not to preach their beliefs, because their beliefs are not important to the world.

There's a big difference between telling others what you believe, and forcing everyone else to conform to your beliefs by attempting to legislate them into law.
It would be hilarious to see your heads explode if someone from one of those "unimportant" religions started trying to pass laws that would make you comply with their beliefs.
"We don't have to, but you guys should be more considerate."
In other new, go fuck yourself.
Ok, but since my belief is that you should get shot if you don't shut the fuck up when you're talking to me about things i don't want to hear i suggest that you don't even try.
And if you do beware of the consequences.
Well, it is the same for all religions. Here in Turkey, when one encourages people to convert to Islam, it is called Teblig, and praised. When one does the same for other religions, it is called Missionary Work, and reviled.
Hypocrisy is in the essence of religion.
Fucking stay away from me you fundamentalist cunts. Although come to think of it, it might be good if you do approach me. I would enjoy making you look like a bunch of obdurate and staring-eyed simpletons in front of others. And by the way, there is no god and the bible contains errors and is inconsistent.
Screw you, you arrogant douchebag. I don't care if your incoherent religious piece of crap book says that some jewish zombie calls for you to proseletize. If someone doesn't want to be bothered, you respect them and leave them alone.
We are called to go out into the world and deliver Christ's message.
Fine. Then don't be surprised when I tell you fundies to get off my property and slam the door in your face. I have been accused by Christians of persecution for doing just that: shooing JWs off my land when they continually pester me and my family.
...because their beliefs are not important to the world.
And with your obvious lack of respect for others' beliefs, you wonder why they don't respect Christianity or yourself? You wonder why there are so many problems between religions and peoples? What a fucking asshole.
Percy Q. Shunn has his own standard for this:
Leave me the fuck alone, or you disappear forever. Simple as that.
"It IS, however, reasonable to ask athiests, buddhists, and others not to preach their beliefs, because their beliefs are not important to the world."
Umm...okay. I'm Buddhist, and I take personal offense at this statement. Since when are my beliefs any less valid than yours? Our core belief system states that to reach nirvana, you must harvest good karma from your actions (in a nutshell, because there's a lot more involved). We all can't pay five easy payments of $19.99 and have our sins washed away by a preacher who needs to make his yacht payment.
No, what were we thinking! How could we ever put all of the other world religions first? I mean, christianity was here first, has loads of evidence to prove it, and is so fundamentally different from every other religion, that every thinking person should shove it down every throat around them. this is all Obama's fault! (For all those who take this comment seriously, in the immortal words of kissy chan, "asshat!")

It's not reasonable to ask Muslims that. We are called to go out into the world and deliver Mohammed's message. It is unreasonable to ask us not to do what Allah has instructed us to do.
It IS, however, reasonable to ask Christians, buddhists, and others not to preach their beliefs, because their beliefs are not important to the world.
Fixed.
Woo! Hypocrisy for Christ!
I'm sorry, if it's reasonable to ask atheists, Buddhists and others not to "preach their beliefs", it logically follows that it's perfectly reasonable to ask the same of Christfags. Now STFU.
bwah ha ha ha ha ha ha.
How is this not a 5?
960220-"The constitution says to go sit in the corner and shut the fuck up."
Actually the Bible says this too.
When you pray, do not be like the hyppocrit standing on a street corner but go where no one can see you.
But when have the christian fundies ever read their own holy book?
To the person that post #959087:
We have that today. Over priced birth control (thank you congress you fucking assholes), severe limitations on stem cell research, ban's on same sex marriage, bans on same sex parent adoption, women with garnished wages in comparison to men, bans on including sexual orientation to the hate crimes initiative, etc. These idiotic policies are all thanks to the piousness of our wonder electorate.
It's not reasonable to ask muslims that. We are called to go out into the world and deliver Allahs message. It is unreasonable to ask us not to do what Allah has instructed us to do.
It IS, however, reasonable to ask athiests, christians, and others not to preach their beliefs, because their beliefs are not important to the world.

Normally I'd twist his words to look something like this for mocharys sake, but he actually just said that.
holy shit, I can't think up any logical response to this...
I got nothing, this is just horrible.
just read this fucks profile... god damn, this was his "about me" paragraph...
"I was a Yahoo Answers participant before. I was banned because Yahoo apparently wishes to silence the message of God. But I am back. Neither me or God will be silenced.
This shows that Yahoo is against both me and our Lord.
God has ordained me as an Earthly spokesman for Him. Because of this, when I speak, it would be wise to listen. You may disagree, but remember, since God has chosen me as one of his spokesmen, disagreeing with me is pretty much the same as disagreeing with God.
I will do God's work regardless of who tries to stop me. "
LOL, I love this post "Your beliefs aren't important" haha so honest seeing how atheists don't technically believe in anything, not cool to say about buddhists though...
btw I'm completely against imposing religious beliefs on people who don't want to know, but that's exactly why I'm also against atheists telling fundamentalists and others there is no god when they don't want to listen.
Why is he so threatened by other people preaching their beliefs? If God is so powerful, then Christianity should win out over those other beliefs any day, right? Seems like Christianity isn't appealing enough, so we must silence other religions so that people might not pick them over Christianity.
Extra Comment: While I do think that people should be allowed to try to spread their religious beliefs, I think it's a good idea to back off if someone says they aren't interested in what you have to say. Some of the comments here are a little... extreme though. Being angry at people that proselytize even after you show a lack of interest is one thing, but to be angry at people for even trying to spread their religion in the first place? Seems unreasonable.

Ok.
I'm fed up with the way fundies treat other religions (and atheists, for that matter.). They're so... condescending, patronizing, arrogant, insensitive, supercilious and self-righteous that I can't STAND it!!!!!!!!!!!! Just because our beliefs don't require us to be complete ASSHOLES doesn't mean YOU get to be. This is not a theocracy. You say our beliefs don't matter in the world? They matter to US, dickwad! If you could that YOUR version of "God" exists then things would be different. But for now, stop expecting special treatment while treating everyone not belonging to your particular sect like dirt.
Sorry for ranting, and have a nice day.
“It's not reasonable to ask Christians that. We are called to go out into the world and deliver Christ's message.”
That’s between you and Christ. No one calls me out to listen to your message.
“It is unreasonable to ask us not to do what our God has instructed us to do.”
Then you want Muslims to obey sharia law rather than the law of the land they’re living in? It would be unreasonable to ask them to be lawful.
“It IS, however, reasonable to ask athiests, buddhists, and others not to preach their beliefs, because their beliefs are not important to the world.”
Oh, you can go and fuck a chainsaw, bubbles.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
