In the "Country" of Africa they sometimes embrace getting rid of AIDS by sleeping with a virgin.
Actually, if you had embraced it a little bit earlier, gay people would have been able to be in steady, open realtionships instead of hiding and only having quick encounters with strangers, much fewer people would have contracted AIDS.

Is the health department of the country of Africa doing anything about AIDS? Maybe the US should do the same thing to get their rate of AIDS down. Who is the health minister of the country of Africa? What do African witch doctors do to cure AIDS? Can we get some of them to come here and do witch doctoring? The bible humpers we have here don't seem to be doing much good., seeing how we have more AIDS.
The "country" of Africa has embraced everything from Islam to Christianity to tribal religions and none of that has helped them any. In the US, AIDS is on the decline from its high point in the 90s. What brought the numbers down was sex ed and raising awareness for the disease. Some contraceptives (such as condoms) decrease the risk of AIDS.

AIDS in Africa is mainly a heterosexual concern, although, no doubt, gays suffer too.
So if gays were married, that would change the spread of AIDS exactly how? Does having a state-issued piece of paper make the virus spread more easily? Maybe we should do away with all marriage and stop the spread of AIDS among heterosexuals, too.

Um, I really don't think that we have a higher rate of HIV infection than the CONTINENT of Africa. Seeing as how the Panzerpope tried to tell everyone there that condoms cause AIDS, and there's a belief over there that raping a virgin can cure HIV, it spreads pretty quickly these days. Whereas we here in the US have comprehensive sex education, though the fundies are trying to destroy it.
The country of Africa is awesome. So is the rest of the continent of Ghana.

Except that AIDS does not spread by sex alone. That's only one of many different methods the virus can be transmitted to different people by contaminated bodily fluids! Other ways it can be spread include sharing used needles, infected blood transfusions which used to be possible before doctors started screening for it, and being obtained by a baby from the mother during pregnancy.
As someone from Africa, there are no words to express the size of the sigh and the face-palm I feel.
In Africa 30% of the African population has HIV. It is lower in minority populations but the casual nature of having multiple sexual relationships causes the virus to spread like a wild fire here. What is worse is that this is between heterosexual relationships. Homosexual relationships in most of Africa get you killed long before HIV becomes a problem. Not to mention the horrifying misinformation about the disease and the pathetic AIDS denialism of some of the governments. In South Africa the previous minister of health through garlic, beetroot and African potatoes helped cure AIDS. The president at the time thought AIDS was caused poverty. The current president had unprotected sex with someone and then his efforts to prevent himself from getting HIV was to take a shower. These are the elected government officials of one of the most developed nations in Africa. This kind of thinking is pathetic and dangerous and people like Charles honestly thinks America has an HIV problem. The trivialization of the sheer scope of how HIV is almost slaughtering the people of Africa is disgusting on so many levels.
Africa is not a country, dimwit.
And the US still has a much lower AIDS infection rate then most of Africa. And Canada (which has had gay marriage nationwide for almost a decade) has an even lower rate.
