With 1.3 billion people that is projected to top off at 1.6 billion by mid-century, China's overpopulation is already resulting in severe problems with desertifcation of marginal lands, water shortages in the north, chronic flooding due to deforestation in the south, and so on.

The country may very well implode under the crushing weight of numbers. Vaporizing vast numbers of people would be the best thing to happen to China.
