Right-wing Hindu Sena asks gods to help Donald Trump win US election

NEW DELHI: Around a dozen members of the right-wing Hindu Sena lit a ritual fire and chanted mantras asking the Hindu gods to help Donald Trump win this year's US presidential election.

While Trump has dominated the Republican primary race to decide the party's candidate for the November election, his calls for temporarily banning Muslims from America and cracking down on terrorist groups abroad have earned him some fans in faraway India.

On Wednesday, members of the Hindu Sena nationalist group gathered on a blanket spread out in a New Delhi protest park along with a collection of statues depicting gods including Shiva and Hanuman as well as color photos of a shouting Trump.

The group chanted Sanskrit prayers asking the gods to favour Trump in the election.

"The Central government should ban Nigerians," Naik said.
Naik also said that even the Aam Aami Party leaders had a fight with Nigerians in Bengaluru.

"They create problems everywhere... We do not want Nigerian tourists," Naik said demanding a probe into the activities of Nigerians in Goa, who he alleged masquerade as students.

Hindutva group’s flex against non-Hindus triggers controversy in Mangaluru, removed

MANGALURU: A flex banner allegedly put up by a saffron outfit warning non-Hindus against setting up stalls during annual fair at a temple in Surathkal was removed after it stoked controversy.

The notice purportedly put-up by Hindu Jagarana Vedike's local unit at Sri Maha Ganapathy temple, Ganeshpura, Katipalla read: "It will hold its annual fair from April 19 to April 23. During the fair, non-Hindus are prohibited from opening their shops."

According to Ningaiah, temple executive officer, said the HJV activists had not consulted temple authorities before putting up the notice and he was not aware of such a warning. He said participation of non-Hindus in the annual fair is a kind of tradition here and every year, they erect stalls and participate in the fair. "We never opposed it," he said.

After like-minded people alerted temple authorities, a complaint was filed at Surathkal Police Station claiming that such posters trigger communal violence. Ningaiah said based on complaint, police have removed the flex from the temple premises.

Condemning HJV move, a devotee said the vedike has no business to interfere in the temple affairs. "Temple administration has the right to allow or disallow non-Hindus. Why should Vedike interfere," he questioned.

Four years ago a similar controversy was stoked during a saffron outfit organizations convention held in the city. Organisations had organized various games during the event for public but it restrained people participating from 'non-Hindu' communities.

M Chandra Sekhar, City Police Commissioner, said at present temple authorities have filed a complaint but no section have been registered. "We are recourse to legal opinion on how the persons can be booked for stirring enmity and based on experts advise police will go ahead," he pointed out.

Priest beats up boy for failing Bible quiz, absconds

Mangaluru: A Catholic church priest was charged with assaulting a boy after he failed to answer questions on the Bible, during his first communion catechism class in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Mangaluru. Police said the priest is absconding.

The incident occurred on April 12 and the case registered on April 18. The parents of the 12-year-old boy said parish priest Andrew D'Costa got furious with the victim during the first communion catechism as he failed to answer some Bible-related questions. Later, he beat him black and blue with a stick.

After the boy narrated the incident to his parents, who are from a poor economic background, they filed a case against the priest. Police said the priest was booked under the Juvenile Justice Act and IPC 324.

Rev Fr William Menezes, public relations officer, Mangaluru Diocese, told TOI the accused priest confessed he had reprimanded the boy, but denied manhandling him.

Most Rev Aloysius Paul D'Souza, Bishop of Mangaluru, also asked the priest - who is reportedly under treatment in hospital - to cooperate with the police and meet the boy's family.

Pravin Togadia #fundie m.timesofindia.com

Vishwa Hindu Parishad's (VHP) president Pravin Togadia sent temperatures soaring in Bhavnagar on Saturday evening with a hate speech that targeted Muslims for buying properties in Hindu areas.
At night, Togadia joined a group of VHP and Bajrang Dal members on a street protest outside a house purchased by a Muslim businessman near Meghani Circle. While saffron groups have been regularly organizing 'Ram Dhuns' and 'Ram Darbars' to thwart such deals, Togadia went a step further by asking the protesters to take complete control of the house and put a 'Bajrang Dal' board on it.
Togadia told the gathering that there were two ways to stop such deals. One is to pressurize the state government to bring in Disturbed Areas Act in Bhavnagar, which prevents inter-
community sale of immovable property. The second is to take forcible possession of the house and fight a legal battle later which will go on for years.
He gave the Muslim occupant 48 hours to vacate the house. "If he does not relent, go with stones, tyres and tomatoes to his office. There is nothing wrong in it. Killers of Rajiv Gandhi have not been hanged ... there is nothing to fear and the case will go on," Togadia told the charged-up gathering.
"I have done it in the past and Muslims have lost both property and money," he said.
He also said that this election is the best time to pressurize political parties to ensure safety of Hindus. "Don't be reluctant to pressurize Congress or BJP for the sake of Hindus' safety," he said.
After the event was over, tension was palpable and police feared that the mob might attack the house. A team of policemen has been stationed outside the house to avert any trouble.
