People seem spell bound. I have never seen this kind of reaction to a man after a presidential election. People are looking at him as if he is the savior of the world. I have to say I think there is much more in play than a man being elected president.
Movie stars pleading allegiance to Obama, the sheer worship. It reminds me of someone who rose to power in the 30s. I remeber people had to swear a statement of loyalty to him.

First I thought they meant a movie star from the 30's, then I realized...
Please don't tell me you are comparing Obama to Hitler.
I knew the posts after Jan 20th would by looney, but they far exceeded anything I thought possible. I'm just not sure why that surprised me :)
Fundies don't seem to know other emotions between hatred and worship.
Then again, this one seems to interpret Obama's election as the first step towards judgement day in 2012, so his ability to reason has shut down long ago.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt, you sillies. That's the man he's referring to.
I don't know about the loyalty thing, though. Never heard of it.
Well, as a human being, I must say Obama has it over FDR, who was a cold fish when all is said and done. We'll see how he deals with stuff as time goes by.
Why does the comment count say "0" if there's been, like, 12 comments on this? Oh, I mean...stupid fundies...something-something...
I remeber people had to swear a statement of loyalty to him.
Isn't that something you Americans do? "I pledge allegiance to the flag and to the United States of America" and all that... That always seemed intensely creepy to me (with or without the added "under god"-thing) and something that would fit much better in a less democratic country.
" It reminds me of someone who rose to power in the 30s. "
It reminds me of someone who rose to power in 2000. The difference is Obama is not a retard, and he won an election.
@Zabimaru: Oh, so it's not just me. I stopped saying the Pledge in school (still stood, though) because I found it creepy and didn't agree with the direction the country was taking, which saying it implies. Pissed some of my teachers right off, but they couldn't do jack about it.
Not that we don't love Obama on his own merits, but the real driving force behind the Obama euphoria is happening as a mass emotional reaction to two things:
1) The fact that we FINALLY had a legitimate election after two that were fixed and stolen by the Republicans and the Supreme Court.
2)The misery and destruction caused by your fair-haired boy, George Bush, who brought us unjustified war, worldwide financial disaster, gas prices doubled until just recently, the environment and constitution trashed, all in just eight years.
People seem spell bound. I have never seen this kind of reaction to a man after a presidential election.
- A natural reaction after the eight mind-numbing years of Bush. It's like people are coming out of of the concentration camps.
People are looking at him as if he is the savior of the world.
- This is a role he has to play. It was forced on him by the dishonesty and incompetence of the Bush administration. The US needs economic and social saving.
I have to say I think there is much more in play than a man being elected president.
- Like what? He has responsibilities towards his country and the people who live there. That's about it.
Godwin=fail
"I have never seen this kind of reaction to a man after a presidential election."
Don't say me you have burnt all the videotapes featuring you after the elections in 2000 and 2004 ?
"We have God in the White House " someone ?
His first three sentence are ones I can agree with. That's a feat for ANYone featured on this site, and dear revelation2012, I congratulate you on it.
Now his parting shots are firmly back in the realm of fundie insanity. Phew.
Obama=/=Hitler? WTF?
The reactions that people are having is that because it
feels that we are waking from an 8 year NIGHTMARE!!
Obama is a fresh breath of air and so far he's done more in the past few weeks than that anal cyst Bush did in the past 8 years.
I don't get the comparison between Obama and Hitler, there is nothing in Obama's personality that makes him seem like a power-bent egotistical maniac. Though his predecessor did.
Ok, I'm tired and I am not making any sense so I'll just shut up now.
Revelation! Says it all!
You do not plead allegience. You pledge it. And that is not worship. Unless of course you mean that pastors too are worshipped.
Or have you forgotten McCarthy? Witchhunting I believe it was called. But he came to a sticky end. Moderate Americans still had balls back then.
Confused?
