I agree 100%. I knew a guy a few years back who recovered from the gay lifestyle. He had a bad relationship with his father, and his form of rebellion was experimenting with homosexuality in his early teens. Long story short, through therapy he recovered. That was 30+ years ago. He’s a happily married man now with 4 grown kids. Through his church he counsels gay men trying to leave the lifestyle and has seen about 80% success rate. He told me that nearly everyone of them had majorly screwed up childhoods.

Even if this is NOT from Shit That Never Happened, claiming that it's proof positive there's no such thing as born gay is like claiming that since you know a guy who's an amateur geologist, there's no such thing as PROFESSIONAL geologists.
Through his church he counsels gay men trying to leave the lifestyle and has seen about 80% success rate.
Oh bullshit. If this is true, he's the only one in the world who's ever had actual success. Even the pray-away-the-gay organizations admit that their clients still have homosexual urges even after they're "cured," but measure level of success on how well the supposedly-no-longer-gay person quenches them.
Of course I'm sure you can't produce a name or telephone number of this guy, can you?
Nope, had a great family, a relatively good life, still turned out to be gay. And that's the story of nearly every gay guy I know personally.
"he counsels gay men trying to leave the lifestyle and has seen about 80% success rate"
Yeah sure, "leave the lifestyle" just means that they forcefully suppress their real feelings and marry someone they don't love, have children out of necessity and then a few years later they are caught in the act of having an affair or sex with another man, destroying that family and giving the children exactly the kind of bad upbringing that you people supposedly want to elevate. It happened before, it will happen again until you finally realize that it is NOT a lifestyle choice and that it is also nothing bad. Of course you never will, but stop pretending to care for us.
" He’s a happily married man now with 4 grown kids."
I guess that seals it. There's no way he could be happily married unless he was recovered from homosexuality.
Of course, the big deal in the 70's was all those guys coming out of the closet. All those married guys suddenly announcing their true orientation.
All those wives and children being shocked at the revelations, at their surprise, all those 'happy marriages' destroyed by the announcements...
So he is busy making sure that they also have screwed up adulthoods too? Oops, I see Helen got there first. All Scots think alike?
Come on, you didn't "know a guy" thirty years ago, and then assume his life is happily heterosexual nowadays. Admit it, somebody told you that he had a friend that knew a guy whose brother-in-law's plumber told him this, and you have no way (and no interest) to know what his life is like now ...if he existed in the first place...

Lying for Jesus is still lying
"his form of rebellion was experimenting with homosexuality in his early teens"
In his early teens, that hardly makes him gay! Lots of heterosexual people were bisexual at that age... so were many gay people. And the ones who stay bisexual into adulthood, of course.
I hope this boy who's now a man is indeed happily married and has not been suppressing his true feelings all this time.
Homosexual children have majorly screwed up childhoods in a decidedly homophobic environment? You don't say?!?
Maybe he's happily married to a man and have four grown kids?
I once watched a TED talk with a middle-aged trans-woman explaining how she "transitioned", including informing her then-wife that she's not a man.
Later the same day I saw another TED talk with a woman explaining how her (former) husband turned out to be gay.
Those two former wives are no longer happily married. Their former husbands are not the only ones to blame, it's mostly society, and people like StupidFarmer, dictating that you SHOULD get married to a person of the other gender, to fit in, to conform, to "be an adult". THAT is what your "success rate" leads to, asshole!

The other side of the closet. A straight spouse speaks out
Nice to know. They're now trying to ban conversion "therapy" here now, but I don't like our chances with that happy clapping idiot we have for Prime Minister, now. After the next election, maybe.
Oh, and this is an old story, now, from 2013.
After 37 years, Exodus International, an organization whose mission was to "help" gay Christians become straight, is shutting down. But not before issuing an apology.
"We're not negating the ways God used Exodus to positively affect thousands of people, but a new generation of Christians is looking for change -- and they want to be heard," Tony Moore, an Exodus board member, said Wednesday.
The announcement comes less than a day after Exodus issued a wide-ranging apology to the gay community for "years of undue judgment by the organization and the Christian Church as a whole," a statement from the group says.
